New data shows 76% of voucher applicants were not in public schools. This is exactly why we opposed the voucher program. It was never really about helping kids with special needs or low-income families. It’s a coupon for the wealthy. Now $1 billion in taxpayer dollars will go to private entities that aren’t held to the same standards while doing virtually nothing for the 5.5 million kids who rely on our neighborhood schools.
