As the sun rose over the Capitol this morning, the Arizona Legislature wrapped up the 2026 session. This year, we delivered real results: more money into classrooms, continued progress on paying teachers first, protecting educational freedom, delivered historic tax relief for hardworking families, stronger public safety, and safety net reforms that will help Arizona remain the best state in the nation to live, work, and raise a family. #DitatDeus

🚨MAJOR TAX RELIEF FOR ARIZONA FAMILIES IS ON THE WAY 🚨 After months of fighting for Arizona families, House Republicans have secured a budget agreement that will deliver major wins for taxpayers, workers, parents, seniors, and students. This budget proposal includes: ✔️ $1.43 billion in in cost-of-living tax relief ✔️ No state tax on tips ✔️ No state tax on overtime ✔️ Expanded child tax credits ✔️ New childcare deductions ✔️ Retirement tax relief for seniors ✔️ Protection for school choice ✔️ Funding for public safety At a time when families are facing higher costs for groceries, gas, housing, and childcare, House Republicans are still fighting to make sure Arizonans keep more of what they earn. This budget agreement reflects the priorities House Republicans have championed from the beginning: affordability, responsible spending, school choice, public safety, and government accountability. Promises made. Promises kept. Read more here: azhousegop.com/arizona-house… #AZHouseGOP #AZMajorityWorks #ArizonaFamilies #TaxRelief #Arizona

When families move, kids shouldn’t lose access to the support they need. Proud to see HB 2621 signed into law. This bipartisan measure helps students with special needs—including military-connected children, kids in state care, those living in tribal communities, and other highly mobile students—receive special education services faster when they change schools. Thank you to Reps Kupper @realnickkupper and Garcia @BrianGarciaAZ, Karla Phillips-Krivickas @AZKarla, Becky Hill @HillAdvo, Disability Rights Arizona @DRightsArizona, and the many other advocates and leaders who helped make this happen.

Kids’ lives are going to be saved by holding accountable violent teen mobs. Thank you, County Attorney Rachel Mitchell (@Rachel1Mitchell), for keeping our county safe.
Teen violence is on the rise. Last year we took legislative action to help combat the rise. Since the law took effect last September, @marcoattorney has charged 63 people. It takes all of us to combat the rise in teen violence. I’m grateful for the Arizona Legislature for working with my office to get this critical legislation passed. I’m particularly grateful for State Reps @MatthewGress and @JWilloughbyAZ for leading this legislation.

Two solid House colleagues of mine... more of this.
As Chairman of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, I’m proud to have secured bipartisan support for a new school safety audit requested by Rep. Teresa Martinez (@TMartinez4AZ) of schools in light of the tragic death of a student on the Phoenix Union campus. Transparency and accountability are essential when it comes to student safety.

Every parent deserves to know their child is safe at school. After serious violence on Phoenix Union campuses, Rep. @TMartinez4AZ asked JLAC to take a closer look. This week, Chairman @MatthewGress and the committee approved a special audit of school safety practices. Parents need answers. Students and teachers need protection. Warning signs cannot be ignored. Accountability starts with the facts. @AZHouseGOP

✅Chairman Gress Announces JLAC Approval of School Safety, Child Care Assistance Audits “JLAC took bipartisan action to get answers on two issues that matter to Arizona families. Parents deserve to know whether schools are prepared to respond to credible threats and whether serious safety concerns are being handled properly. Taxpayers deserve to know whether hundreds of millions of federal child care dollars are being managed responsibly. These important audits will establish the facts, identify gaps, and help us determine what needs to change.” “The fraud scandals unfolding in other states are a warning sign. Arizona should not wait for a crisis before asking hard questions. When hundreds of millions of dollars flow through a program, strong oversight is not optional. This audit will help determine whether taxpayer dollars are protected, safeguards are working, and child care assistance is reaching the families it is meant to serve.” -@AZHouseGOP Rep. @MatthewGress, JLAC Chairman LEARN MORE👇 azhousegop.com/chairman-gres… #AZHouseGOP #AZLeg

Grateful to join the Scottsdale community today for the Memorial Day Commemoration as we remember the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. We heard inspiring remarks from Congressman Schweikert @DavidSchweikert, Chief Master Sergeant Wesley T. “Wes” Peel II of the 944th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, and a Gold Star Family. Thank you as well to the Scout Troop 440 who helped set up today’s ceremony and remind us that patriotism and service continue with the next generation.

I was honored to attend @RidersUSA’s 20th annual Flags For Our Fallen event today. A powerful moment is always Southwest Industrial Rigging’s massive American flag hanging over the road leading into the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona — a moving tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. May we never forget their service, sacrifice, and legacy. 🇺🇸

✈️✈️✈️ Why are local governments compromising the safety of pilots and passengers by using safety equipment in an improperly? Thank you, Senator Rogers (@WendyRogersAZ), for your assistance in successfully advancing this measure.
Good!! Charging landing fees by tapping into the FAA’s mandated collision avoidance equipment ADS-B completely contradicts the safety intent of ADS-B! @MatthewGress’s HB2210 rightfully outlaws ADS-B landing fees in Arizona.

Grateful to the Palo Verde Republican Women hosting me today to share an update on Arizona’s budget, education policy, and my campaign for re-election in Legislative District 4. When it comes to affordability, the best thing government can do is give Arizonans back more of their hard-earned money — not create more bureaucracy and government programs. Proud to be leading efforts at the Capitol to deliver meaningful tax relief to millions of Arizona families. 🇺🇸

Thank God we have Senator Werner @CarineWerner leading the charge at the Capitol to hold accountable the people and providers who abuse our most vulnerable and the state’s behavioral health system. And she’s done so on a bipartisan basis. I’m disappointed that General Mayes @AZAGMayes resorted to calling Senator Werner names instead of thanking her for her engagement on a really serious problem.
Last year we uncovered one of Arizona's largest fraud scams in history. This is government failure at its finest: massive Medicaid fraud. Vulnerable patients exploited. People dying. All the while, taxpayers are footing the bill while repeat offenders keep operating under different names. We must end the fraud. After continuous failures, I've asked the U.S Attorney to step in. No more excuses. No more kicking the can down the road. Arizona needs prosecutions to stop these criminals, asset seizures, and real accountability - - now. Read my full statement:
