Some say endurance athletes need more carbs, like >120g/hr. Others say 10g/hr is plenty. What does the actual dose-response data show? It's not as clear as I would have guessed. More here: outsideonline.com/health/tra…

Why are we still ice bathing? Robust evidence shows cold-water immersion after training INHIBITS recovery by blunting muscle protein synthesis and anabolic signaling. Why, then, are we still doing it? It's culturally ingrained at this point. Athletes are jumping in cold tubs because that's what we do, and fitness influencers have more sway than credible scientific experts. Only in unique circumstances, e.g., between successive competitive heats, is there any potential benefit. 🔗skepticalinquirer.org/exclus… #science #exercise

Do larger athletes require more carbs during exercise? We might think this is obvious right? But is it actually the case? “Why think? Do the experiment!” (John Hunter) Our latest paper in @IJSNEMJournal reports on this experiment doi.org/10.1123/ijsnem.2024-… ⛽️ 🚴🏻
