i had a runway, customers and momentum. i had a pitch meeting with a tier 1 vc scheduled for tuesday. on monday afternoon my cofounder ran a claude-generated database cleanup script in production instead of staging. it deleted six months of customer analytics data and two months of transaction logs. we had to postpone the pitch. when we went in without the growth metrics we couldn't tell the story. pass. another pass. the momentum never came back.

i’ve never loved programming as much as now. you can just build as fast as you never was imagine, a little bit of vision and taste, and that’s all. since December, life as a programmer has been before and after. building has never been so easy. but can we still say it’s programming?
It is hard to communicate how much programming has changed due to AI in the last 2 months: not gradually and over time in the "progress as usual" way, but specifically this last December. There are a number of asterisks but imo coding agents basically didn’t work before December and basically work since - the models have significantly higher quality, long-term coherence and tenacity and they can power through large and long tasks, well past enough that it is extremely disruptive to the default programming workflow. Just to give an example, over the weekend I was building a local video analysis dashboard for the cameras of my home so I wrote: “Here is the local IP and username/password of my DGX Spark. Log in, set up ssh keys, set up vLLM, download and bench Qwen3-VL, set up a server endpoint to inference videos, a basic web ui dashboard, test everything, set it up with systemd, record memory notes for yourself and write up a markdown report for me”. The agent went off for ~30 minutes, ran into multiple issues, researched solutions online, resolved them one by one, wrote the code, tested it, debugged it, set up the services, and came back with the report and it was just done. I didn’t touch anything. All of this could easily have been a weekend project just 3 months ago but today it’s something you kick off and forget about for 30 minutes. As a result, programming is becoming unrecognizable. You’re not typing computer code into an editor like the way things were since computers were invented, that era is over. You're spinning up AI agents, giving them tasks *in English* and managing and reviewing their work in parallel. The biggest prize is in figuring out how you can keep ascending the layers of abstraction to set up long-running orchestrator Claws with all of the right tools, memory and instructions that productively manage multiple parallel Code instances for you. The leverage achievable via top tier "agentic engineering" feels very high right now. It’s not perfect, it needs high-level direction, judgement, taste, oversight, iteration and hints and ideas. It works a lot better in some scenarios than others (e.g. especially for tasks that are well-specified and where you can verify/test functionality). The key is to build intuition to decompose the task just right to hand off the parts that work and help out around the edges. But imo, this is nowhere near "business as usual" time in software.

when i built this experiment, i only had two questions: - is it possible to build everything with claude code? (spoiler: yes). literally two months of enjoyable vibecoding - can an LLM predict football matches better than a human or an average polymarket trader? (spoiler: yes, but not always) but this experiment isn’t over. you can join the website, follow every football match and copytrade let’s see what the results are at the end of the season

my advice for new devs on Sui: pray every night that Mysten doesn’t decide to build the same thing you’re building. because Mysten’s “institutional partners” only trust Mysten if you want an open and trusted ecosystem, better find something else. or stop thinking in zero-sum terms and just apply for a job at Mysten. then you always win

Mysten has provided support to just about every legit Sui ecosystem partner. We jump in to deal with crises and fill in gaps in audits, security tooling, connections etc. You know it because we provided plenty of support to Ika including help with your investors. And now you guys are making unhelpful and misleading noise. Let me be clear on why we had to build Hashi. Institutional BTC holders make it clear a Hashi-like product based on Ika just won't be accepted. If it's not, then you guys should get busy building it. As I said, we jump in to build products when the existing solutions do not suffice. The web3 product design space is infinite. There are countless talented teams we are happily supporting. We have a lot of admiration for Ika and want nothing more than for you to be a huge success. There are plenty of other opportunities to collaborate on. But not on Hashi. That has been made clear to us.

Top-1 innovative DEX on Sui, btw

ALT Doing Time GIF by Jukebox Saints

According to Suiscan, address 0xe7cd…7a88a4, tied to the Momentum team, sent 38M MMT ($45.6M) to Binance on Nov 5, 16:00 UTC 8, sourced from the second-largest holder (0x1b4d2…7355c8, 18.57% of supply). From Nov 4 18:41 to Nov 5 00:12 UTC 8, this second-largest holder sent 89.476M MMT to 12 addresses, some reaching CEXs. After listing on Binance at $0.1, MMT spiked to $4.4 (some platforms $10) in 12 hours, then fell to $0.67. suiscan.xyz/mainnet/account/…

Happy New Year!

Guys wake up, another Chinese mafia-style scam finally just dropped: @MMTFinance, yet another basic DEX that does absolutely nothing new, launching on another irrelevant chain no one is using. Makes total sense that $MMT is up 300% on the day at a $1.3B FDV, with completely organic volume that’s, of course, 12x its mcap. I’m sure that’s also thanks to the strong TVL momentum. You know, the kind that goes from $650M to $200M in a week. The Binance chart looks amazing too, classic Burj Khalifa formation. A clear sign of greatness. Jokes aside, every project launching on BuidlPad looks exactly the same: nobody cares, but they somehow turn into massive large-scale pump and dump. The worst part? Scammy CEXs keep enabling this playbook just to fill their pockets, burning not only their user base but also the remaining trust in the market. It’s exactly this kind of behavior that keeps putting the entire altcoin market in a bad light - a market that’s still mostly driven by crypto natives and retail investors, who end up getting rekt and burnt out by these playbooks. Idiots get hyped over a $200 airdrop, not realizing how destructive and negative EV this is for the ecosystem in the long run. We really need to stop destroying ourselves.

”what Stripe did for Web2, x402 is doing for Web3“ right now it’s only the beginning of the x402 boom. there aren’t many real use cases yet. people are still experimenting and figuring out what works best the main concern with this technology is that it’s still too early(only 2 months lol). there are only around 3–5 real projects doing anything interesting yet maybe it’s the first step toward a “machine-to-machine economy” with fully autonomous AI agents or just another flop. let’s see how adoption goes for x402 in the future
