It was an absolute honour to attend the Civic Act of Remembrance today at the War Memorial in Cheam where the service was conducted by Reverend Dr Nicholas Peacock. Following the ceremony at the War Memorial, a further service was held at St Dunstan’s Church.

It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family. The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people. Myself & Deputy Mayor attended the Sutton Sings Festival yesterday where we watched talented KS1 & KS2 choirs from local primary schools on a 'Song Journey' exploring songs related to transport & travel, accompanied by a live band of professional musicians.  A wonderful occasion

Today we held a flag raising ceremony in Sutton High Street followed by a two minute silence to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Thank you to the local cadets units and local branches of the Royal British Legion for attending. #VEDay80
