I haven't looked at the data here, but I'd wager that "disenfranchising women" would probably be the sort of proposal that would make gender polarization worse instead of better.
The problem with polarization along fundamental identity characteristics is that it seems plainly destabilizing to me. It seems to be making everybody very unhappy. It seems to be making dating and family formation a lot harder. It seems clearly to me atomizing. It shifts focus from the family to the individual. Should I go on? I’m sorry, but are people under the impression that this is difficult? The whole point of my tweet is that this isn’t difficult. And it shouldn’t be difficult for you either.

This is a lie. Amro's account of being sexually assaulted by Israeli soldiers was published in the New York Times two years ago. nytimes.com/2024/05/01/magaz…
Regarding the Kristof column. Let’s put aside the dog rape stuff and focus on one additional specific example of why it was such poor and indefensible journalism. There were two named victims of sexual assault by Israeli soldiers in Kristof’s column. One of them Issa Amro. He was detained and interrogated for 10 hours on 10/7. The only problem? He himself put out the below video about what happened to him that day. I will link to it in this week’s newsletter. In the video, he claims his hands were tied tightly, they cursed at him, and he was hit several times. But at no point does he suggest anything even close to sexual assault. Two weeks later, he was interviewed by ABC news. Again, no mention of sexual assault. He would later be interviewed by the Washington Post and would claim he was threatened with sexual assault (but not that it occurred). This person repeatedly talked about the events that day and never once claimed sexual assault except when it became convenient to fit Kristof’s narrative to provide evidence of a systemic problem. And no, it’s not a coincidence that this activist has done a ton of media. Did Kristof know that there was a contemporaneous account from one of the two named alleged victims that does not claim sexual assault? Did the NYT editors know the person being cited changed their story? Was Amro even asked why his story changed? None of this seemed to matter.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium charges $295 for a family membership or $125 for a single adult. With an EBT card, entry is free — and up to four guests get in free every visit. There is a ZERO incentive for these people to ever get off Food Stamps.

I dunno, if we're gonna invite blood soaked war criminals to give commencement addresses I'd say there's way more interesting biographies to choose from. Vladimir Putin grew up in a run down communal apartment in the post war USSR!
This is a point I think people really need to get. I remember when Condoleezza Rice withdrew from her planned commencement speech at Rutgers after protests over her role in the Iraq War. Fine. People were entitled to object to her record, of course. But at the same time, there was about a 0% chance she was going to actually talk about politics. Don’t you think it would have been interesting to hear from someone who grew up as a little Black girl in segregated Birmingham, Alabama — and then went on to become secretary of freaking state? I suspect she had some valuable and interesting things to say. (And yes, that is a massive understatement.)

This clip is crazy because they give two completely opposite takes on Nixon's role in Watergate but neither seems to notice they're disagreeing.

The ADL's position seems to be that there's a ban on all manifestations of the belief that "trans women are women" in any institution, public or private, no matter how insignificant. Everyone must either be indifferent or actively unwelcoming to trans people in all settings.
And now they come for Parkrun. PARKRUN. Threatening community run events with legal action cannot possibly be part of protecting women’s sport. For these campaigners, the only thing that seems to matter is the erasure of the trans community from public life.

the reason why a good portion of the pro-trump right wants to pretend patriot front is an fbi op is the same reason they tried to claim jan. 6 was carried out by feds/antifa: they want all the benefits of fascist street action without any of the consequences.

If Israel didn't have the Iron Dome, it would have either invaded Lebanon and Gaza over a decade ago instead of trying to avoid it, or they would have directly gone after Iran, potentially leading to a nuclear confrontation. The idea that having your entire population vulnerable to incessant missile attacks is going to make you less militarily aggressive is insane, and the idea that Israel could have resolved its problems with the explicitly genocidal Hezbollah and Hamas by being more forthcoming is equally insane.

As a reminder, this was the incident where DHS officers rappelled from a Blackhawk helicopter in front of videographers DHS had brought to the raid, where Stephen Miller claimed it was a building full of "terrorists," and where children and American citizens ended up in zip ties.
DHS repeatedly said that an aggressive apartment raid in Chicago last fall was prompted by intel on a gang takeover. Documents show the real story behind the raid was to target alleged squatters — with the landlord's blessing. propublica.org/article/chica…
