I don't think I have seen such a turnaround so quickly. 4 months ago this was us and now the same paddock a pasture paddock previously has good potential. Reticent to post because of so many still doing it tough but also, I like to be thankful

Second seeding in a row where I think we will go through the seeding without any moisture. The units are going well with tight soil rocks and dust. Weighing up whether to keep sowing or not has been a challenge. I think this is the least worst option for us.

A few people had a dream to build a world class speedway track in Bordertown. A heap of people got enthused to help and here we are. What an effort by a small community. And what a fast track

Susceptible crop plus frost forecast equals lighting fires in a vain effort to reduce risk

Just when you start to think we get some pretty good crops off this flat, maybe we should grow more wheat etc on it, I get a reminder why we grow a fair percentage of frost tolerant crops and livestock there. A nice visual of where the cold air gets trapped.

Ah that's interesting we grow Faba beans on frostbprone paddocks as they are pretty safe in a frost. Not so this year. For those who don't grow them, normally the pod goes brown first or as the seed does. These seeds have turned to mush.

Wet spring last year and a wet June this year has helped crops get through a pretty dry spring this year. Never under estimate stored moisture and coolish spring

Started a new hobby. Sculpting. Managed with the very end of a 36 metre boom on the inside of the turn. No evidence of it grabbing just 3 gentle taps as I went around only noticed when I came back for the next width. No damage to boom whatsoever.

This is 1 reason why synthetic fertiliser is good for the environment. Feeding more people from less area.
As population went up in the past 60 years, science ensured that food production increased at even higher rate; so the arable land use stayed same. Now, tag some naysayers!
