I don't want to be the guy who gets back from a lovely break and complains about the parking, but lord help me I am, so WHY would you do this to your beautiful high street Aldeburgh?? How can you live like this?

*No one* on earth thinks if we โ€œdid socialismโ€ we would immediately solve anything. The argument, which you cannot dispute, is that solving things is impossible when powerful capital owners benefit directly from that problem not being solved.
Thereโ€™s far too many people who think if we just did socialism weโ€™d immediately like solve climate change. Itโ€™s such a deeply annoying position.

you can tell that every season there was a new fight between the marketing department who thought using ะฏ instead of R looked cool and anyone on the show's staff who actually spoke russian
Not for nothing, THE AMERICANS also had the absolute best promo art for every season

Camden is now the gold standard for bicycle infrastructure in London
As cycle numbers soar in London, we're expanding our network of safe cycleways. Fabulous to see the new cycle lanes and crossings on Clerkenwell Road. Well done @CamdenCouncil @TfL

More than 5 years ago we asked @TfL for a zebra crossing outside Linden Children Centre alongside 20mph (which is in place now but not enforced) and trees (zero trees). To this day there is no safe crossing and wide enough pavements for families and children. @MayorofLondon
Every child should be able to walk or cycle to school safely, but we know many people are put off by safety concerns, poor crossings or inaccessible streets. @TfLโ€™s Walk and Wheel Plan will make streets safer and more accessible for everyday journeys. standard.co.uk/news/london/sโ€ฆ

Hands-down the finest form factor for everyday headphones in my lifetime. Run in them, sleep in them, cycle in them, wear them comfortably all day, keep them discreetly round your neck and forget about them. Amazing design. I love them

the average person probably only knows the formulas for olivine and one or two feldspars
the average person has a reading goal of 10-20 a year but in a community where reading is your main hobby, of course people are gonna read more idk why this is such an issue ๐Ÿ˜ญ if u wanna read 20 books a year that's okay. reading 50 is also okay and entirely feasible

A French tour guide this morning asked how we say โ€˜cypressโ€™ in English and all the other English people insisted it was โ€˜see-pressโ€™ and Iโ€™ve never experienced such concerted gaslighting

When I was a kid in the 80s/90s we didnโ€™t get takeaway very often, and went to a restaurant as a family even less, usually for celebrations. Other people may have done this more, I donโ€™t know. Hope this helps

The Grand-Rue in Marseille is apparently the oldest street in France. Its alignment is probably over 2400 years old. Seen here on a model of the city in Roman times, when it was already centuries old ๐Ÿคฏ
