Traffic on our road is so bad despite lockdown. We suffer high AirPollution speed danger but as residential road, weโ€™re not in a LTN and as A10 stretch, weโ€™re ignored by @TfL But our community has rights to a greener, healthier, safer road too. #activetravel @hackneycouncil ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฟ

Our community is not going to stop campaigning for our rights to a greener, healthier road. Below, our @Breathe_London node reporting just now dangerously high levels of No2 pollution from the A10 Southbound traffic. Yet Zero trees to help with air quality. @TfL @LDN_environment

Sounds great @willnorman With the increasingly rising temperatures, Rectory Rd is a total furnace: heat combined with the fumes of the A10 make it a health hell for residents and families at Linden. We need trees for air quality, cooling, shade ๐ŸŒณ @LDN_environment @metecoban92
๐Ÿ‘€In London's heatwave last week, @cityoflondon took the temperature - same day & time - in 2 nearby public squares. The difference is green infrastructure. Urban tree canopy & vegetation are vital for coping with the climate crisis. That's why we're planting ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ across LDN

More than 5 years ago we asked @TfL for a zebra crossing outside Linden Children Centre alongside 20mph (which is in place now but not enforced) and trees (zero trees). To this day there is no safe crossing and wide enough pavements for families and children. @MayorofLondon
Every child should be able to walk or cycle to school safely, but we know many people are put off by safety concerns, poor crossings or inaccessible streets. @TfLโ€™s Walk and Wheel Plan will make streets safer and more accessible for everyday journeys. standard.co.uk/news/london/sโ€ฆ

Another hot evening and we canโ€™t open the windows onto the road, to prevent the A10 fumes coming in. Our @Breathe_London node data shows dangerously toxic levels of NO2 from the A10. And still no๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ to help with air filtering, shade or cooling. @LDN_environment @MayorofLondon

Yesterday was as hot as mid July last year: #ClimateEmergency is worsening heat makes #airpollution worse. Still waiting for trees in the only residential road in Hackney crossed by the A10 #redroutes @MayorofLondon @LDN_environment No shade, shelter, air filtering or cooling.
Another heatwave and no trees: no shade, no cooling, no air filtering.

Rectory Road has been campaigning for the past 7 years to ask for trees on our road to help filter air, provide shade and reduce heat, especially critical as increasing heatwaves worsen pollution, as well as mitigating the impact of heavy rainfall and flooding.๐ŸŒณ@LDN_environment
Big announcement: Weโ€™re supercharging green and blue spaces to bring nature back across the capital, with local communities leading the charge. Itโ€™s not just about restoring our natural world - weโ€™re making London more climate resilient, too.

Our @Breathe_London node at Linden Children Centre shows No2 levels 5 times over the WHO legal limits. We live on a residential road with no trees and carrying the whole A10 southbound. All our community asks for is trees to help w #AirPollution๐ŸŒณ @metecoban92 @LDN_environment

This is the No2 live right now from our @Breathe_London node by Linden Children Centre, showing high No2 from the A10 Southbound. We have been campaigning for the past 6 years asking for measures to reduce #Airpollution with trees. Our lungs matter too @LDN_environment
Not for communities on red routes. After 6 years of campaigning asking for trees we are still getting high No2 from the A10 southbound and have not a single tree to help with #Airpollution Thanks @Breathe_London for the ongoing support and for providing us with the node/data.๐Ÿ’š

They said it would take 193 years to clean Londonโ€™s air. We did it in nine. ๐Ÿ’จ London has now met legal limits for nitrogen dioxide air pollution. theguardian.com/environment/โ€ฆ
