Productivity != How much did you produce (Quantitative Approach)
Productivity = How much of your plan did you achieve (Qualitative approach)
A common pitfall with the quantitative approach is the comparison with others. Personal productivity might be dependent on SO MANY contextual things and each person's stage in the pursuit of that activity.
For eg- if you start cooking today, there's no way you could match your mom's output in quantity and quality. But if you plan to make yourself a breakfast today, and you made it, you were productive 🚀
A similar thing happens in engineering teams where leaders might expect a similar output from each engineer whereas the right expectation is to match their self-commitment to done %.
And as part of coaching we should help them increase their skills to take up more capacity to deliver.
