I have picked up many new followers the last 3 days. Here is a visual representation of topics I cover for those new here, or for those wanting a refresher course. Welcome to everyone new here, and thank you to those who have stuck with me!

My solution...once you start putting you do not stop until your ball is holed. You're only allowed to mark a 2nd time if you'll be standing on someone's line. Otherwise you just keep going until. Or we get all the greens firm enough that footprints don't happen.
As you know, I just got back from 17 days in Scotland. Played 18 rounds. My longest round was 4:15 at Turnberry and that’s just because we spent ten minutes in the lighthouse after 9 as our host member wanted us to experience it. Our foursome at Kingsbarns teeing off at 11:15 on a packed tee sheet day played in 3:55. I had two rounds of being a threesome at Nairn and played in less than 3 hours. American golf is brutal slow. Carts, boozing, music blaring, all four guys going to watch each other hit shots instead of playing ready golf. But the worst is on the greens. Marking two foot putts, lining up and reading from three diff sides. It’s awful. Give me UK golf all day every day.

The good: In two of my last four rounds I've managed to avoid making a double. This is progress. The bad: I've still only shot my handicap (net even or better) twice this year, in 36 rounds. The fantastic: Iowa corn is superior to all other corn. Knee high by 6/12!

We've been waiting on this group today. The last hole one of my playing partners said something. Two of the 3 got mad. The maddest guy is wearing a T-shirt and gym shorts. The 2nd maddest guy is wearing his polo untucked. Draw what conclusions you will from this.

Let's take a moment to focus on good in golf. I'm talking about Jack and Barbara Nicklaus. Yes, I often pick on Nicklaus courses, but in the light of recent news, I wanted to highlight the Nicklaus family. There has never been even a puff of smoke about Jack being anything other than a fantastic husband, father and grandfather. Further, Jack and Barbara have a legacy of philanthropy that will leave an impact long after they're gone. -Nicklaus Children's Hospital -The Memorial Tournament's donations to the Nationwide Children's Hospital -The Barbara and Jack Nicklaus Junior Golf Endowment -Play Yellow to benefit the Children's Miracle Network And so much more. Good people, staying true to each other and doing a lot of good with what they've been given. That is all.

Update: I'm starting to think I should get blades, or at least Mizuno S-3s.
Guys, I'm starting to wonder if my clubs might be fine, and if I'm the actual problem. I am not taking questions at this time.

What is one stretch goal you have for your golf game? I am going to turn 50 in a couple years. I would really like to make the Cedar Rapids Senior Ryder Cup team. There's an annual match against Iowa City. The problem is, they don't take many 7 handicaps, so I have to figure out how to make time in my life to actually get better if I'm going to do that.

I recall when the old Golf Advisor lists used to get universally panned on here. Just a reminder, we are not normal golfers. Most normal golfers love trees, conditions and the deal of the day. Those of us on Golf X go a layer or 14 deeper on this. For us, the authorities for best courses are Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, Golfweek and Top100Courses. Each ranking has it's own merits and detractions. I'd love to get to a place where the golfing masses are educated to the point where those lists, and the Golf Advisor ranking, or the google ratings, are one. But we're not there yet.
I love the idea of everyday golfer input like the old Golf Advisor. I would use it to check on course conditions prior to booking rounds. But everyday golfer input into actual “top in state, region, suburbs, etc.” lists leads to bad output like this. This is a best of list from a Chicago suburbs based newspaper that solicited votes from readers. There’s probably 20 (or even more) public courses in the area I would suggest before those on this list.

As an example, read this review of Lawsonia Links. I played Lawsonia last fall, and conditions were perfect...firm and fast, brown around the edges. This reviewer wants it soft and playable. Golf X is not real life.

This is not a political post. I repeat this is not political. I have seen a lot of mixed views on President Trump attending the NBA Finals last night. To be completely frank, if I were to ever run for President, it would only be so that I could go to whatever sporting event I wanted. Let's see the Masters lottery deny me tickets when I'm President of the United States! 😏

Hey, did Miles Russell qualify for the US Open? Out of curiosity, who caddied for him? I just haven't seen or heard any news on here.

Play it as it lies.
I promise you’ve never seen this before. First hole today at Renaissance Club I pulled a 6 iron right at the center of a tree. I was ready for it to come flying back. Talking full speed accidental stinger. Just a quiet thwack and nothing. Hopefully they leave it there for the Scottish Open!

If I am ever the benevolent dictator of a Country Club or Golf Club, one of my first acts will be to end Friday Night Couples golf. Before everyone gets all angry with me, I understand it's profitable and it builds community and all that. But, I can also tell you that as a guy whose spouse doesn't play, there is nothing more disheartening to have a full week of work, and think "Maybe I can cut out at 3 on Friday to play golf," only to learn that the course is closed at 5 for Couples Golf. First world problem for sure...but watch out if I'm ever a benevolent dictator.

Gotta give a lot of credit to the USGA, which is never easy for me. They got the setup at Riviera 100% correct. I liked that it was scoreable yesterday. Today, it seemed too easy early, but as the wind kicked up it became a grind! A proper US Open. And a winning score of -8 is just about perfect. Hopefully they'll get it this correct at Shinnecock.

An All Around great putt to win! 🥹
THE WAIT IS OVER!!! Nelly Korda emerges from a star-studded leaderboard to capture her first U.S. Women’s Open 🤩

Nelly's ball striking thus far is pretty sub-par. Her short game has been unbelievable! Sei Young Kim can't hit a fairway and keeps getting away with it. Seems like this is Charley Hull's to win at this point.

Big birdie by Lopez! If Nelly doesn't make her 10 footer on 17 we could see a playoff.
