Hello, Welcome to MPRA! Passenger rail is easily one of the most efficient modes of transportation and the Midwest needs more of it! From trains that scoot to suburban towns, to trains that fly through the countryside at over 100mph, the Midwest needs an efficient rail network!

Not once in the 50 years of Amtrak has Des Moines ever had train service. Bring it back!
Until the late 60s you could take a train from Minneapolis to Houston:

Bi-partisan legislation has been re-introduced again in Ohio to have the state join the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. The MIPRC would help with passenger rail planning.
What more passenger rail in Ohio? Call your state senator and ask them to support this bill. allaboardohio.org/posts/bipa…

Elyria could become an even busier station if we bucked up and gave Cleveland Amtrak service that doesn't arrive during the night:
Did you know Elyria is the 3rd busiest Amtrak station in Ohio -> beating Cincinnati but those 13,000 annual riders have to wait out in the cold in the middle of the night. We went in person to see the $10M push to bring #Amtrak back to the downtown: allaboardohio.org/posts/beyo…

One of the few services to not die on the first day of Amtrak was the Rock Island Rocket to the Quad Cities. It ended service in 1978. Last year Illinois committed nearly $400mil to bring it back!!

WOW!! Metra Rock Island line service is about to get ALOT better: Trains every 30 minutes to Mokena IL, every hour to Joliet, every 30 on the Beverly Branch. This is what happens when you fund transit!!

We do wish it was every 30 minutes to Joliet, but this is still a MASSIVE improvement over current levels. Hopefully all lines in Chicago can get this level of service someday. Stadler FLITs like the one pictured have yet to be delivered. Screenshot from starlinechicago on Bsky

Pisses me off that there's only one train between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. There should be more:
