All I want for Christmas is for the @GCRTA Blue Line to connect @Shakersquare to University Circle @inthecircle & the Cleveland Clinic via light rail subway. Adelbert Rd alignment best serves @cwru & University Hospital. Car-free/light connection from housing to jobs & services!

Road diets protect cars and protect car owners. Don't let the anti-car crowd block your road diet. Results of rearranging street space in Oakwood, OH: 🄳 total crashes DOWN 70% 🄳 injury crashes DOWN 87%

This Bellevue-Seattle listings comparison is an unbelievably vivid YIMBY map In Seattle, people ask how legalizing all these $700k condos makes housing far more affordable In Bellevue, those condos are illegal & instead they mandate $3M single family homes. There's the answer
Seattle is in a similar situation. While Bellevue is building >3000sqft homes for the rich, Seattle is primarily building for the middle and upper middle class. This will cause an even bigger gap in incomes. Tough to say if it's good or bad.

Not many things where an empty lot might be preferable, but I think this is one of them.

With a little rearrangement of public right-of-way, short errands in suburbia could be easy bicycle trips. The key is making physical space for people to safely ride bikes without being squeezed by 50MPH car traffic.

Bike lanes are good for everyone, even for people who never ride bikes. We've known this stuff for a long, long time.

19% of people aged 20-24 don’t have a driver’s license. 30-40% of people over 85 don’t have a driver’s license. Planning and designing places that force everyone to be dependent on cars is cruel. šŸ–¼ļø Everywhere, USA

Don’t let American railroaders tell you that stack trains can’t run under wire, We can electrify our railroads
Look at this beauty of Indian Railways! One double-stack container train can replace around 200 trucks on the road. Cheaper, cleaner, and far more efficient.

ā€œAir pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.ā€ Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life. Common sense. Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same. washingtonpost.com/climate-s…

Car dependency is a mandatory tax on your freedom and bank account. True fiscal conservatism is living in a walkable neighborhood where you don’t need a $40,000 depreciating asset just to buy groceries.

Guy walks into a store to buy a $50 shirt. Gives the cashier $25 and walks out with the shirt. "I paid for this!" That's the modern American when it comes to car infrastructure. People are forced to contribute to the Motordom Wealth Distribution Plan because user fees only cover about half of car infrastructure. Taxpayers who drive 15k miles a year, 5k miles a year, or 5 miles a year are forced to chip in. It's so normalized that we get enraged at the thought of paying $50 for the $50 shirt. It's interesting that the standard response to pointing out this financial mess is "oh so you want to ban cars" or "oh so you think packages just appear without roads." No and no, I think it's worth talking about the financial mess we're all in.
