Pretty impressive ground “scouring” and mud caking from the Washburn, Illinois tornado from yesterday, June 11. It was incredible seeing this up close, by far the strongest tornado damage I’ve come across.

It is crazy that the impacts of Helene are still being felt here
For the first time since Hurricane Helene, what was the Postcard Inn on St. Pete Beach has formally reopened as ‘The Luce’ 🏖️ The new property includes a total renovation, new restaurant/bar named Sundrop, and a new identity. Here’s a sneak peek —> @bn9

Interesting that there are two waves moving up the east coast from the Cuba quake. That is exactly what I felt in St. Pete FL.: A rolling wave then slight break then another one. The whole thing lasted maybe a minute.
Here we observe the seismic waves racing out across North America from the recent very anomalous M6.1 reverse thrust earthquake that struck just off the west coast of Cuba. Weak shaking/jolts were felt across Cuba, Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, and most of Florida.

My hurricane season PSA on long-range deterministic model posting. 7 days plus is fantasy land, as illustrated by last season's stats. Here's the verification that a storm actually formed when they show up at 168 hours out in both the GFS and ECMWF. GFS is a fantasy hurricane machine, and while the EURO is better, it is still not great for this time range. Patterns are good to look at, especially in the ensembles, but specific storm details are not. #tropics

Brooksville tied a daily record low of 60 degrees (set back in 1931). It was also the coolest June temperature recorded in Brooksville since 2006.

Most people that hate on the Trop have never been. I remember when my wife and I went for the first time, I was surprised how great it was, and it’s her favorite stadium to see a game at.

One thing that’s been lost culturally is the satisfaction of hanging up on someone. You’d slam this fucker down and if you were mad enough you might even get a little “ding” from the ringer. Trust me when I say it felt fucking great.

2026 and 1997 are El Niño twins. But they didn't always look alike. Subsurface ocean warmth developed faster in 1997, but 2026 caught up following a record-breaking Kelvin wave that formed in April. A new westerly wind burst into June will keep these two years neck and neck.

The forgotten & violent Cedar Park tornado shortly after the Jarrell F5. Also a strong tornado at Lake Travis. What an outbreak in Cen Tex that humid May day!
The destroyed Albertsons in cedar park 29 year's ago today when a tornado hit cedar park (the manager put everyone in a freezer & saved their lives) #txwx my mom was on the highway & saw this tornado!

Excellent depiction of what happened in Jarrell.
It's 29th anniversary of the Jarrell, TX F5 Tornado. Still one of the most fascinating atypical tornado formation processes ever documented. Extreme CAPE w/ No Shear Favorable Boundary Interactions Back-building mergers = Landspout-turned-F5 Grinder

Hall of fame RFD surge.
One of the craziest tornadoes of 2026 just occurred today in middle-of-nowhere Mexico.

WDHN is very lucky their tall tower located at the studio didn't come down on top of them!
WDHN, based in the Dothan, Alabama area, took a direct hit from a tornado while they were live on air about an hour ago! Later confirmed via NWS report! #alwx

Hostile environment for tropical development. Tons of wind shear 1st week of June. There’s a small window of opportunity IF anything can find its way into the area just off the SE coast. Timing would have to be perfect for something to start spinning.
