For too long, efforts to combat antisemitism have ignored some of the ideologies that fuel it. The State Department’s first ever Symposium on Islamist Ideology and Antisemitism reflects a growing recognition that confronting anti-Jewish hatred requires addressing its sources, not just its consequences. Acknowledging the problem is a necessary first step. Defeating it must follow.

The backlash against Gwyneth Paltrow says more about the critics than it does about her. Appearing in an advertisement connected to Israel is not a crime. Demanding that public figures be shunned simply for engaging with the world’s only Jewish state is a standard rarely applied anywhere else. Boycotts that target Israelis and those willing to work with them do nothing to advance peace. They only deepen division.
Gwyneth Paltrow has been mocked in the past for Goop, but that’s nothing compared to the backlash she is facing for becoming the face of 51 Park, a luxury building project in Israel. Reporting by: @HannahBrown972 jpost.com/international/arti…

America is governed by the rule of law, not by intimidation. The indictment of eight individuals accused of targeting University of Michigan officials, businesses, and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit sends a clear message: threats and harassment are not legitimate forms of political engagement. Accountability matters.
🚨Department of Justice indicts eight conspirators who threatened University of Michigan officials, businesses, and the Jewish Federation “In America, we rule by law not by fear. These alleged threats and attempts to terrorize government officials, businesses, and the Jewish Federation are anti-American. We will counter intimidation with justice.” said U.S. Attorney Gorgon of @USAO_MIE. Read more: justice.gov/usao-edmi/pr/dep…

Every new investigation raises the same question: why were these warning signs ignored? Institutions entrusted with educating children and delivering humanitarian aid must be held to the highest standards. Anything less undermines both humanitarian work and public trust.

Tens of thousands took to the streets of Toronto this weekend to stand with Israel. A powerful reminder that even in difficult times, the Jewish people and the State of Israel are not alone.

Never again is now. A Jewish woman was physically assaulted on a New York City subway after another passenger shouted a blood libel accusation that Jews are “eating the kids” before attacking her. For centuries, blood libel has been used to incite hatred and persecution against Jewish communities. Today, those same conspiracy theories are resurfacing in America’s largest city. This is the new face of New York City, and it demands serious leadership. Elected officials must confront antisemitism with the same urgency they would any other form of bigotry.

For years, Israel warned the world that Hezbollah was a threat not only to Israelis, but to the entire region. Today, that reality is impossible to ignore. America, Israel, and all who value freedom have a shared interest in confronting terror and supporting a stable, sovereign Lebanon.
SECRETARY RUBIO: "Hezbollah is not just an enemy of Israel and an enemy of America, Hezbollah is an enemy of Lebanon and of the Lebanese people."

Among the celebrations at yesterday’s Israel Day Parade was a moment the happy couple will never forget. Moments like this are what the Israel Day Parade is all about: family, joy, continuity, and the enduring spirit of the Jewish people. Mazel tov to the happy couple, and may they build a beautiful life together. Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱

More than 90 members of Congress are calling for the dismantling of UNRWA amid mounting evidence of ties between UNRWA employees and Hamas. For years, UNRWA has operated with little accountability while perpetuating extremism, enabling incitement, and undermining the very peace and stability the international community claims to support. Humanitarian aid must never be compromised by organizations linked to terror.

Yesterday, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division took an important step toward accountability by filing a Title VI lawsuit against the University of California over the antisemitic hostile environment at UCLA. Jewish and Israeli students reportedly faced exclusion, intimidation, and physical violence, including being blocked from parts of campus during the April 2024 encampments because of their identity. The DOJ alleges UCLA responded with “deliberate indifference,” failing to protect its students. We commend the Department of Justice for taking action to uphold civil rights protections and hold universities accountable. Antisemitism has no place on college campuses, and we will continue standing with the students fighting for equal protection and safety.

Adam & Gila Milstein Family Foundation retweeted
🚨 UK JEWISH LEADER SAYS HE IS LEAVING BRITAIN FOR ISRAEL Jeremy Jacobs, a former head of the UK’s United Synagogue, says he is moving to Israel after losing faith in British society amid rising antisemitism. His family has lived in Britain since the 1850s. Now he says walking around London with a kippah makes him fearful, and he no longer believes most people would defend Jews facing harassment. His words say everything: “When I walk in Israel, even in a war zone, I feel at home.” “In London, where we live, that feeling has gone.” This is what happens when a country allows antisemitism to become normal in its streets, universities, and public spaces. Jews are not imagining it. They are leaving. (TOI)

A disturbing display of antisemitism took place in Montreal, where an effigy depicting a lynched Jew was paraded publicly through the streets. At a time when antisemitic incidents are surging globally, scenes like this should alarm every decent person. Demonizing Jews in public spaces cannot become acceptable under the guise of political expression. Silence in the face of this hatred only emboldens it.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for American freedom. Today also reminds us of the unshakeable bond between the United States and Israel. Bound by shared values, our two nations stand side by side on the frontline, defending democracy and the future of the free world. We honor the legacy of the fallen by recommitting to the freedom they died to protect. May their memories forever be a blessing.

We applaud the administration’s decision to sanction Hezbollah’s enablers in Lebanon and hold accountable those advancing the Islamic Republic’s terrorist agenda in the region. Hezbollah is not only a grave threat to Israel, particularly communities in northern Israel that have endured years of rocket attacks and instability, but also a force that has hijacked Lebanon’s future and undermined the security of the broader Middle East. A more prosperous Middle East depends on dismantling the networks that allow groups like Hezbollah to thrive. Accountability matters, and peace cannot coexist with terrorism.

“They wanted destruction, we chose growth.” Last week, residents of Shlomit, a desert community along Israel’s southern border, dedicated Be’er Shalom, a new synagogue that stands as both a place of prayer and everything this community has fought to protect. On October 7, members of Shlomit’s emergency response team ran toward danger to defend nearby communities. Four of them, Bechor Sued, Aviyad Cohen, Uriel Bibi, and Reuven Shishportish, were killed in battle. Their legacy lives on in what this community continues to build. Where there was an attempt to bring devastation, Shlomit responds with life and purpose.

A vital new effort to protect Jewish communities is taking shape in Congress. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and James Lankford (R-OK) have introduced the Jewish American Security Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at deploying significant federal weight to counter rising antisemitism. The legislation focuses on three critical priorities: - Campus Safety: Mandating a comprehensive U.S. Education Department framework to combat antisemitism on college campuses. - Physical Security: Investing $1 billion in federal security resources for at-risk houses of worship and non-profits. - Digital Accountability: Requiring social media platforms to be transparent about how they handle antisemitic content. We welcome this crucial focus on combatting antisemitism, protecting students, and ensuring a safer future.
