Another tale from the intergenerational church: Little ones, you were quiet today, but I saw your joy as we smelled the incense. I heard your amens as we said the liturgy. And I felt your energy as you rushed past to get to communion. I’m glad we were in church together today.

Little ones, you shouted much in church today. Thank you for reminding me of the canticle: Thank the Lord & sing his praise; tell everyone what he has done….he leads his people forth in joy & with shouts of thanksgiving. Alleluia! I’m glad we were in church together today.

Another tale from the intergenerational church: Little ones, you played with your toys on the sanctuary floor, joyful and at ease in God’s presence. May we come to worship with the same joy and open hearts. Grateful we were in church together today.

In trying to serve people where they are, churches have sorted them by life stage, with children, teens, young adults, and empty nesters siloed from one another. But what many churches are missing is slow, relational, generational formation. christianitytoday.com/2025/0…

Grateful to Matt @markins and his team for the kind invitation to the 2025 Child Discipleship Forum. Honored to be part of such a meaningful conversation about children knowing and loving Jesus in a broken world. 🙌 #ChildDiscipleshipForum

We should have rooms for adults who feel fussy about children making noise at Mass, rather than rooms for the children. The adults can have a window to see what's happening, or a speaker to hear what's going on.

Another tale from the intergenerational church. Little ones, your cries…multitude of cries …during the prayers today shouted out our feelings. Thank you for reflecting to God the emotions of his people. I am glad we were in church together today.

Another tale from the intergenerational church. Oh little one, you screamed for your mama during communion today. Thank you for reminding me and physically representing our heart’s cry for our heavenly parent. I am glad we were in church together today.

I think I have said a similar prayer once or twice before.
I leaned over at Mass & asked my 4 year old what she wanted to tell Jesus. “My knee hurts” she whispered back. “Okay…tell Jesus.” “Jesus, fix my knee” she whispered. “Or else.” So this week, we’ll be working on ultimatums with God…

Just some things we are pondering at the Center for Faith and Children @FaithandChild
Tired, lonely parents struggle with superficial family discipleship programs. But by caring for parents’ faith, the church cares for the whole family, argue @MimiLarson16, @lins_goetz, and Ahyuwani Akane. christianitytoday.com/2025/0…

A good reminder why we shouldn’t look down to the children in our midst. They show us who we really are.
Are we certain we’re not really just little ones going around talking about God like we are know-it-alls? “God, in so speaking, lisps with us as nurses are wont to do with little children” (Calvin, Institutes, 1.13.1) Stay humble, friends.

Another tale from the intergenerational church. Little one, thank you for shouting out the Lord’s Prayer this morning in church. YOUR WILL BE DONE...! FORGIVE US...! LEAD US...! You reflected the cries of God's people. I am glad we were in church together today.

Another tale from the intergenerational church. Little one, I saw you intently listening to the sermon today. You tried so hard but you are little. I suspect you didn’t understand everything. That’s okay, neither did I. I am glad we were in church together today.

Another tale from the intergenerational church. Little one, you were so happy to be blessed today at communion, you ran back for a second blessing. A good reminder of how we should yearn for God's blessings. I’m glad we were in church together today.
