ALT Amrita talk on democratizing digital brain twins at the 10th School of Brain Cells and Circuits "Camillo Golgi" held at Erice, Italy.
Amrita research was presented at the the 10th International school of brain cells & circuits course dedicated to the Italian Nobel laureate “Camillo Golgi”. On invitation from the School of Brain Cells & Circuits "Camillo Golgi" directors, our Amrita Mind Brain Center Professor and Director, Dr. Shyam Diwakar showcased multidisciplinary brain research including the work at our Amrita Hospital, Kochi and our research centers highlight the need for democratizing digital twins. This year's program held December 2-7, 2025 at Erice, Italy was organised on the title "A Decade of Discovery: The Erice Camillo Golgi School – Modeling the Brain from Neurons to Large-Scale Signals and Digital Twins in Health and Disease".

ALT The talk titled "Democratising digital brain twins" addressed how our ongoing work with rural communities needed better solutions taking into account brain and mental healthcare using digital solutions that included low-cost devices for gait, using high and low density based EEG for task and resting state brain mapping and more. The talk also highlighted how Amrita projects such as virtual laboratories for higher education and olabs for schools.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had collaborated with the University of Pavia in Italy and the Aix-Marseille University in France for European Union’s Human Brain Project that had concluded last year. The project was funded by the EU and Amrita was the only Indian partner to have participated at the Human Brain Project through a voucher call on a project titled "BOLDsim".
