So I just finished my very first Leave to Appeal to the SCC Application!! I used to be so jealous of all those lawyers who were in the Supreme Court all the time...til I realized, you have to LOSE BIG in the Court of Appeal before you can apply for Leave...haha. Yay #SharpLegal

In our last in person appearance at ONCA, we filed documents that had the SAME hard copy page number as the PDF page number. Some judges use paper copies and others use the PDF version, so it made it faster and simpler to just have to refer to ONE page number. You're welcome!

Hey #LawTwitter I've got 2 tips for appearances in ONCA: 1. The Judges want you to refer to PDF page numbers and 2. As noted on the ONCA website - Judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario are addressed as “Justice” followed by their last name, not as “Your Honour”. Live & Learn

Hey #LawTwitter Don't forget - even if you beat Rule 49 offer, Judge may not award full indemnity costs: here Judge found counsel's $900 hrly rate was "excessive & inappropriate" & costs for jr to observe was "unreasonable on its face" Ginn v. Dwizick 2023 canlii.ca/t/jvr4w
