Wow, @WordPress, since when are the ads so prominent in a free WordPress version? That is pretty horrible. What a 'subtle' way to push customers towards your paid model. Ugh.
New teachers are like young swimmers. Throw them in the pool at the deep end and there's a good chance they'll drown. Give them the support and guidance they need, and they’ll possibly become top swimmers. New blog with @P_A_Kirschner3starlearningexperiences.wor…
"True art generates meaning from *unexpected* connections — the exact opposite of how generative transformers and reinforcement learning works."
I think the same can be said for learning. It's not about content, but thinking, ideas, and making meaning!

A reblog this time! We would like to share an article by @kkapp. Recently, he posted an evidence-informed article on too much interactivity in eLearning. Yes, that's a thing!

So: does listening to #music improve #studying?
@DTWillingham -- who knows a thing or two about research into learning -- has a quick video to answer this question.
As always with Dr. Willingham, it's pithy, easy to understand, clear, and helpful.

ICYMI... there are 2 ‘other things’ that are confused w desirable difficulties. They are NOT
1. challenges & efforts caused by the difficulty of the tasks
2. about designing in a way that encourages the learner to make errors or fail

Parents - If you see a "Word Wall" like this in your child's reading class, it's a strong signal the teacher has no idea how to teach reading.
You need to take action immediately so that your child can learn, properly, how to read. (1 of 3)
Last week we (@P_A_Kirschner & I) wrote a blog on what desirable difficulties are. In this follow-up, 2 ‘other things’ that are often mistaken for/confused with desirable difficulties but aren't!

This article discusses the (unintended) consequences of generative AI through a cog psych lens.
It reflects on the question "How do generative AI applications affect essential human thinking capabilities such as critical, reflective, deep thinking?"

Yes, I agree. This was a great session. Both @P_A_Kirschner and @Quinnovator brought in very clear and nuanced views on what good instruction looks like and takes.
Great discussion by @P_A_Kirschner & @Quinnovator! This webinar was all about "unpacking the nuances" between "instructivist" & "constructivist" approaches. Common ground: Base your teaching on theory and science, not on philosophy #LDA#instructionaldesign#educationalpsychology
