Filling in an application for a new job (still teaching) and I am cringing at what I wrote in my personal statement 6 years ago. Did not realise how much I had developed until attempting to use it as inspiration.

Why does my toddler insist on getting up at 4.30 on a Saturday and a Sunday? It's worse on Sunday as the shops don't open till 10am! Not sure how I can maintain a positive energy on so little sleep 😴

Im starting to think Lucy Davis for otter? The 9-5 song just makes me think The Office! And that was filmed to look like reality but obviously wasn't. So real but not real. #TheMaskedSingerUK

At my contraceptive injection appt the nurse asked if I had kids. I replied 1, not long turned 3. Her response:"Time for another one soon then, won't be needing this much longer." No, not time for another one. One is enough for me. Why do we do this to women?

Starting to feel like I need to take a break from teaching. The constant demand is beginning to take it toll but I don't know if I'm just acting on impulse. I love teaching. Just hate everything else that comes with it.
Something I don’t think is discussed enough - how important it is for middle & senior leaders to remember what it’s like for a teacher ‘on the ground’ to teach full period days, often for 2-3 days back to back. Also, the accompanying markload, and inevitable cognitive fatigue.

Our class read aloud is Holes and I just can't seem to get in to it. There is such a hype around it but I'm not seeing it yet.

I have gotten in to the habit of spending my Saturdays alone planning, which is really sad. This weekend I'm breaking the habit. I still need to plan but work can't be everything.

If you are off work sick on your PPA day, do you get your PPA back on a different day? Or is it just a case of bad luck?

I've been updating the science Knowledge Organisers in line with the small steps I created last year. Its a job I've been meaning to do for almost a year but once teaching starts, where is the time? Today will be planning for the first week back.

Is there a film with a better soundtrack than 500 Days of Summer? I forgot how brilliant it was.

I have missed feeling cold. I'm not a Summer person at all and just can't cope with heat, when normal household tasks need to be done.

Lovely morning out at Bradgate Park. The little one was very excited to find some deer.

The thing with depression is that nothing needs to have happened to feel in a low mood. The low mood is just there because it is, there is no reason. #mentalhealth

This week, I opened up to my year group colleagues about the mental health issues I have been battling for the past 18months. It felt scary to be so vulnerable but also like a small weight lifted from me. I'm not where I want to be yet but I'm determined to find "me" again.
