Karmeloโs parents were absent during his sentencing because they were trying to figure out what to do with the $600,000 they raised. And they were probably trying to figure out if they had to take it down or if they could get away with making more money.
Worse, the parents were actually present when the guilty verdict was announced and immediately bailed.
They did not return to be present for either the sentencing or victim's impact statements.
Once he was found guilty they knew their grift was over.
