Today, I am honoured to join distinguished Nigerians in celebrating a statesman and elder of our nation, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR, on the occasion of his 84th birthday and the public presentation of books documenting his remarkable life, service, and contributions to Nigeria and Africa. General Abdulsalami occupies a unique place in our national history. At a critical moment in Nigeria's journey, he demonstrated uncommon courage, patriotism, and selflessness by guiding our nation through a peaceful transition to democratic governance. His actions helped lay the foundation for the democratic dispensation that Nigeria continues to build upon today. As we celebrate General Abdulsalami today, we are reminded that true leadership is measured not by the accumulation of power, but by the positive impact one leaves on people and institutions. His life continues to demonstrate that service to the nation must always be guided by responsibility and a commitment to the common good. May Almighty God continue to grant him good health, wisdom, and strength to keep serving humanity and our nation. Thank you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. -PO

Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting my brother and partner, His Excellency Peter Obi, at my residence in Abuja. I warmly welcomed him back from his highly productive international trip, and we engaged in frank and productive discussions on key partisan and national issues. Our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remains united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal. We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK. - RMK

Insecurity: Nigeria Cannot Continue Like This I received with deep shock and sadness the tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who reportedly died while in the custody of kidnappers. Earlier, before this heartbreaking news, I also received disturbing reports of renewed bandit attacks in Sokoto and Kwara States. The armed bandits reportedly blocked a market route in Sokoto and abducted traders, while terrorists invaded communities in Kwara State, kidnapping scores of citizens and killing innocent people, are heartbreaking and alarming. These incidents are not isolated tragedies; they are clear manifestations of the deepening security crisis confronting our nation. But particularly painful is the reported death of Major General Rabe Abubakar, a distinguished military officer who dedicated a significant part of his life to defending Nigeria and protecting its citizens. It is tragic that a man who served his fatherland with honour, rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and retired after years of meritorious service, would meet such a heartbreaking end at the hands of criminal elements. His death is a national tragedy and a sobering indictment of the insecurity that has engulfed our country. When traders can no longer travel safely to markets, farmers cannot access their farms, communities live under constant fear, and even retired senior military officers are not spared from the menace of kidnapping and violent crime, it becomes evident that our nation is facing a grave security emergency. Security remains the foremost responsibility of any government. Every life lost, every citizen abducted, and every community displaced represent a painful failure of our collective duty to protect the Nigerian people. The recurring attacks in Sokoto, Kwara, and many other parts of the country demonstrate that insecurity is not only persisting but spreading in both scope and intensity. I once again urge the Federal Government and our security agencies to move beyond rhetoric and adopt a more proactive, intelligence-driven, technology-based, and coordinated approach to tackling insecurity. We must strengthen our security architecture, improve intelligence gathering, secure our borders, equip and motivate our security personnel, and ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are apprehended and brought to justice. A nation where citizens live in fear cannot prosper. A nation where economic activities are disrupted daily by criminal elements cannot attract investment, create jobs, or guarantee a better future for its people. We must urgently reclaim every part of our country from terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and all criminal gangs threatening our collective existence. My heartfelt condolences go to the family of Major General Rabe Abubakar, his former colleagues in the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians who have lost loved ones to insecurity. I also sympathise with the families of those killed, those abducted, and the affected communities in Sokoto, Kwara, and across the nation. The recurring tragedies and embarrassing security failures we continue to witness make the quest for a New Nigeria not only necessary but inevitable. We must build a nation where every citizen can live, work, travel, and pursue legitimate economic activities without fear. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

I have met a lot of people that voted for Bola Tinubu (PBAT) in 2023 but will be voting Peter Obi next year. I have also met a lot of people that voted Tinubu last time but will sit out this election because the administration hasn’t delivered on the hype, the hardship has been unrelenting, and they see no real improvement in their daily lives. I haven’t met a single genuine Obi supporter from 2023 that is now supporting Tinubu (this is my reality). I believe this administration came in talking big on reforms but has largely failed to shield ordinary Nigerians from the pain. Structural issues are being “corrected” on the backs of citizens while the gains remain distant or invisible. For example, the recent passage of the state policing bill sounds good on paper after years of national debate but many fear it will just empower state governors to create their own armies for political control rather than genuinely tackling insecurity. Kidnappings, banditry, and violence continue at alarming rates. If anything, it highlights how centralized policing has failed under this government, and decentralization is arriving too late amid worsening chaos. The CBN’s Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028 is another glossy policy document. Financial inclusion and digital innovation are nice long-term goals, but they mean little when naira volatility, inflation, cash crunch legacies, and skyrocketing living costs have already wiped out savings and purchasing power for millions. You can’t eat policy visions or use them to buy food at the market. For many of us, there are not enough reasons to stick with this administration. The pain has been too deep, the communication too poor, and the alternatives especially someone with Peter Obi’s track record of prudence and focus on production look far more inspiring. The current team simply hasn’t shown it can outperform on delivering tangible relief to citizens.
I have met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi the last time and will be voting PBAT next year. I have also met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi last time but will sit out this election because Peter Obi hasn’t been as inspiring as he was in 2023 and they do not consider the alternatives as better. I haven’t met a single PBAT supporter that is now supporting Peter Obi or any other candidate( this is my reality) I believe this administration hasn’t lived up to certain hype but I cannot deny that it’s been reform minded. Helping correct structural issues that have plagued this country far too long. For example, the recent passage of the state policing bill is by no means a mean feat. That this administration makes it look easy or don’t blow their trumpet so loudly does not diminish the huge significance of the bill and the tireless work that they put into it. The implementation of the Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028 ( championed by CBN) is another policy that has gone under the radar(I believe we should all read about the policy) . This is one policy that will revolutionize our financial system for good. One that will birth several financial innovation and products. There is no eradication of poverty without financial inclusion and it appears CBN is on an articulated agenda towards a sustainable path. For some of us, there are enough reasons to stick around this current administration. The alternatives aren’t as inspiring and simply do not have what it takes to out perform this current administration.

I was told that with the recent desperation and body language from Kachala's camp after watching Obi build real momentum in the NDC—Kachala quietly signaled interest in abandoning the sinking ADC ship to join Obi in the NDC, perhaps even begging for a subordinate role or some alliance crumbs. But it was immediately shut down. The response? "That ship has sailed." Kachala's repeated presidential bids have left him with zero leverage, and no serious player wants to tie their future to a perpetual runner-up who's now polling as a regional has-been. Everywhere is now blurring for the ADC.

Indeed, Atiku Abubakar’s “presidency or nothing” politics (after multiple failed runs and party-hopping) may end up hurting the same North he claims to represent, because national power in Nigeria is not won by emotion, desperation, or recycled entitlement alone. It is won through strategy, alliance, patience, negotiation, and realistic positioning. If there is anything that can marginalize the Northern/Fulani people further in national politics, it is not the ambition of other regions. It is a political approach that tells an entire region to reject every available bridge, fresh faces, or coalition unless the final prize is handed over immediately to one perennial candidate. That is not strategy. That is political gambling and elite capture. Look at Nigeria’s recent history. Before Goodluck Jonathan from the South-South became President, he first served as Vice President. Before Bola Tinubu from the South-West became President, Yemi Osinbajo served as Vice President for eight years. Even Atiku himself served as Vice President before becoming a strong contender. Power often moves through stages and not through one man’s endless retries at the top. That is why the North must think beyond emotional slogans and “Kachala” entitlement. A serious region does not isolate itself from every national arrangement or emerging leader because one serial aspirant insists that only his ambition matters after decades in the game. If a younger Northern voice or strategic ally serves as Vice President, he strengthens the region’s position in national politics. That is how power is built and rotated. The question is simple: how can it be presidency or nothing again in 2027? Nigeria is too complex for one-man entitlement and perpetual opposition without fresh ideas. No region should be pushed into political isolation or generational stagnation because of personal desperation and repeated electoral rejection. The North deserves inclusion, negotiation, coalition-building, and strategic relevance—not another cycle of emotional politics that produces online noise, party fractures, and weakens national bargaining power. Atiku (Kachala) has the right to contest, but no individual ambition should be bigger than the long-term political interest of a region. Nigeria must succeed. And for Nigeria to succeed, every region must play smart politics, not suicide politics driven by one man’s unending quest. Kachala’s desperation should worry every right-thinking Northern person.

" I got the advice from a mad Man" - Peter Obi. The mad man he was referring to is Kenneth Okwonko.

DATA IS BRUTAL @ADCVanguard_ 👀
Atiku contested for presidential election in 2007 without Peter Obi and got only 2 million votes. In 2019, he contested with Obi and got 11 million votes. In 2023, he contested without Obi and got 6 million votes. If we're being honest, Peter Obi is the one that brought Atiku to the faces of Nigerians.
