FIFA spokesperson: "FIFA can confirm that match official Omar Abdulkadir Artan will be unable to train and officiate at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after he was denied entry into the United States.

"FIFA is not involved in host country immigration processes, including visa adjudications, and has been informed by authorities that Mr Artanโs status will not be changed at present.

World Cup referee Omar Artan has been denied entry to the USA, just three days before the tournament kicks off.
The Somali official was set to become the first-ever Somali referee to be the man in the middle at a FIFA World Cup.
Artan, 33, was elected the best African referee for 2025 by the Confederation of African Football and has officiated at Afcon.
Denied entry to the US, despite having a valid visa, he has now returned to Istanbul. #WorldCup
