Today I signed an executive order placing a 6 month pause on data center development applications. Data centers have huge impacts on our electric grid, water supply and climate goals. This pause gives us time to evaluate those impacts and make decisions for our County's future.

This week I heard Roberto Clemente Middle School students make thoughtful cases for changes they'd like to see in their schools. Civic engagement starts with paying attention, asking questions and speaking up. It's great to see these students are already doing that.

This judge exposed the truth: the Trump Admin’s “anti-immigrant sentiments” are behind their dismantling of our asylum & legal immigration process. It's a direct attack on what Lady Liberty stands for. This ruling is a step in the right direction. We must keep fighting back. nytimes.com/2026/06/05/us/po…

Gun violence is still taking lives across our state. We're fighting back with investments, strong partnerships across law enforcement and communities, and an all-of-the-above approach that’s delivering real results in communities all across the state, with historic decreases in homicides and non-fatal shootings. But we cannot rest on our laurels. Our administration is committed to continuing to reduce gun violence and keeping communities safe.

60 years after graduating from Albert Einstein High School, I got to to deliver this year’s commencement address at my alma mater. I have a message for the Class of 2026: stay true to yourself, stay engaged, stand up for what you believe in and give back to your community.

Yesterday, we paused to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. It was also great to see our community come together at the Rockville Memorial Day Parade as we reflected, remembered, and paid tribute to their sacrifice.
