When I entered the space industry SpaceX was the other company I was going through interviews with when Impulse swooped me up. Out of curiosity I looked at their valuation from when I would have started. 15xed in that time frame, not bad.

Being an early employee is still the real golden ticket. I was pre Series A at Impulse. I won't disclose any numbers but if we keep on our trajectory I'll be "janitor at SpaceX" territory. It could all go up in smoke if we take our foot off the gas. We're just getting started.

We better get a whole new crop of space company founders out of the IPO. Keep this thing rolling.

I know exactly when I started following. When the first water landing video reconstruction popped up it got my attention. It jumped out to me as "oh this is different". Took me a while to get in the game myself though.
My best estimate for when I started following

I kind of want to buy a single share just to make memes in my work chats with all the former employees.

Space Camp in Huntsville is amazing. I went all the way up to Advanced Space Academy. I got to see an ISS module integration at Marshall, but there was one part that was absolutely wild in hindsight. We had a lecture on Relativity from an operation Paperclip scientist.
U.S. Space & Rocket Center @RocketCenterUSA in Huntsville, Alabama, home to @SpaceCampUSA. I am quite sure if I had not attended when I was 12, I would not be where I am today. And now this generation of campers will grow up in a world where outposts are operating on the Moon and someday Mars. Hard to imagine what could be more exciting or inspiring.

It wasn't until many years later that it really hit me "holy shit that was a Nazi scientist."

Sounds like it was Dr. Georg von Tiesenhausen based on a little research.

The worst unit is decibel: It isn't even a unit, isn't defined consistently across fields, hides an arbitrary reference scale and is named after Alexander Bell but spelled 'bel'
milli-ampere*hours (mAh, what you see on charging banks) is a serious contender for worst unit of all time. It is almost never useful and serves exclusively to obscure rather than clarify It is NOT an amount of energy

All true, but also don't be afraid to give the STEM side a shot if that's what you really want. I started college over at 30 because I didn't have a stem degree. It was rough but I knew what I wanted. It is possible and there are people who will give you a chance.
If you want to work in the space industry but don’t have a STEM degree here are all sorts of other options available: Journalists and communicators! Videographers and photographers! Executive Assistants! Accountants! Finance and business! Learning specialists! Human resources! Every space company needs a plethora of humans in all types of role to be successful in meeting their goals! If you need help with finding other space companies that complement NASA and their goals (most hardware is built by companies that have contracts with NASA!) check out the post I will link in the comments 👇👇

That's my boss. Funny story, I was so early at Impulse I interviewed him. Tons of open roles on both my team and the rest of spacecraft software.
“We’re building software that directly shapes the mission’s success.” We sat down with Atta Kashmiri, Spacecraft Software Manager at Impulse, to break down what it’s like to develop the tools, infrastructure, and flight-critical systems that keep the Mira and Helios programs moving forward – and how it feels to get your hands on real flight hardware. Take a look: impulsespace.com/updates/q-a…

This is one of those ideas that seems neat but is terrible in a world where batteries have scaled. Photovoltaics batteries have won in a landslide.
China’s solar power plant in Dunhuang uses around 12,000 mirrors to focus sunlight onto a central tower, heating molten salt to extreme temperatures. That heat is stored and used to generate electricity on demand, including after sunset.

I have tickets for a big group 70mm Imax screening in a week. I don't know if I have the willpower to resist seeing it on my own first. I know I'm going to see it repeatedly in theaters regardless.
