Fascinated by all things astrocytes and microglia related to: aging, trauma, mixed dementia, and NeuroD processes in general. @UKSBCoA@SCoBIRC@UKYneuroscience
Bittersweet day as we say goodbye to the Ben “Lab Weapon” Wendell. Last day with us before he heads off to Charlottesville to join @BIG_Center_UVA for his PhD. Incredibly proud of this guy and can’t wait to see all the awesome discoveries he makes.
The Fryer lab is looking for postdocs interested in studying (and then publishing) the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Molecular biology experience a strong plus! DM or email me at my Mayo Clinic addy!
Ended the semester (last lecture for me 💪🙏🏻) in my ‘Neuroimmunology of CNS Disorders’ course with a review of this 💎 from @BolteAshley and @LukensJohnR. This one is fun bc I get to randomly interject with “brain drain!” several times
We are excited to release Seurat v5- with new methods for multimodal, spatially resolved, and massively scalable single-cell analysis. satijalab.org/seurat
🚨POSTDOC and RESEARCH ASSISTANT open POSITIONS.🚨
Astrocyte-vasculature interactions in mice & human using imaging (2P, confocal, EM) & molecular biology (omics, CRISPR).
Underrepresented and multidisciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Email me for more info.
The Annual Trainee Research Day at UKy was so informative and fun. Listened to some great talks on networking and got to share my work with colleagues at UKy.
🏆 R01 is funded! Continued support from @NINDSfunding will allow us to peer deeper into the roles of astrocytes in neural repair and functional recovery after CNS injury. Could not have done it without the great 🧠 of @ksuresh97 and @Sarah_MccGlia 💪😍🙏 @CedarsSinai
I had so much fun doing the neurotrauma 5K with the Morganti Lab. It raises money for a great cause that I am proud the lab can represent. The virtual race is through the end of March so there is still time for people to support Neurotrauma research. #neurotrauma5k#Morganti_Lab

Scientists sampled extracellular vesicles in the brain fluid of living mice, unveiling microglial messages in response to amyloidosis. @wakeforestmedow.ly/iul650NqStt
BIG thanks 😏to @LukensJohnR and @BIG_Center_UVA for having me out to talk about astros, ApoE, and immunometabolism. Great group of folks, awesome conversations about neuroimmune interactions in disease and a stunning backdrop of campus/Cville where they do all the science things
Our Lab at Yale U has a postdoctoral position to study neurodegeneration mechanisms and glial-vascular biology with 2photon, calcium/voltage imaging, gene editing,transcriptome/proteome, 3D EM, translational neurosci/chemistry. Email me if interested #postdoctoral. RT pls
Full circle moment last night at #ASN23. Introduced @JessGebhardt24 to my PhD external advisor and microglia/CX3CR1 guru Dr. Astrid Cardona 🙌. Her seminal work propelled me into studying myeloid signaling in NeuroD/trauma. Grateful we’re back to inperson meetings for this reason
Super pumped to get the @10xGenomics CytAssist up and running today to expand our spatial ‘omics capabilities in FFPE samples from our world-class Neuropath group here @UKSBCoA
Poking around Chat GPT4 this morning for fun; asked for a research strategy to examine role of microglia in AD. Looks like I’ll have some job security until GPT5 debuts. 🤦🏼♂️
