Finally, she is out of the hospital. Hopefully, she will soon be able to leave Oman as well. Thank you all. 😻😭
Positive development in Mariam Abdelbaset’s case. Allowing her to return to her residence in Muscat with her newborn is an important step. We hope this is followed by lifting all restrictions, ensuring her freedom of movement, and allowing her to travel to a safe destination of her choice, while enabling her child to obtain official documents and a passport.

الحمدلله، شكرًا للجميع.. وعبقال الفرحة الكبيرة بخروج مريم واطفالها من سلطنة عمان والسماح لها بحرية التنقل والسفر إلى وجهة آمنة من اختيارها.
تطور إيجابي في قضية الناشطة المصرية مريم عبد الباسط. السماح لها بالعودة إلى مقر إقامتها في مسقط مع طفلها حديث الولادة خطوة مهمة. نأمل استكمالها برفع أي قيود، وضمان حريتها في التنقل والسفر إلى وجهة آمنة من اختيارها، مع تمكين طفلها من الحصول على وثائقه الرسمية وجواز السفر.

Law and Democracy Support Foundation (LDSF) has joined the international appeal launched by the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk (ICFR), demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter Omar Salah Marei, and opposing his arbitrary pretrial detention since May 11.
LDSF calls upon film workers, organizations, institutions, and individuals around the world to join the Coalition’s appeal and sign the petition to support filmmaker Omar Salah Marei.

I call on the Omani authorities @FMofOman to release Mariam Baset and not to extradite her, as she is clearly a victim of transnational repression.

🚨 No Interpol Red Notice for Mariam Abdelbasette
Credible info confirms she is NOT listed on Interpol—just like her husband Ahmed Mousa, who was forcibly deported to Egypt under the same false claim.
No notice. No evidence. No legal basis.
🔴 Oman must release her NOW
🔴 Egypt must end its persecution
Mariam’s lawyer, @BenCAKeith, stated: “It is of real concern that the authorities are refusing to cooperate. There is no basis for any INTERPOL alert, we believe that the statements by the Omani authorities in this regard are false. There is no INTERPOL alert of any type. There is therefore no legal basis to hold or deport her. In this case it seems that Oman are cooperating with Egypt to circumvent extradition protections and arbitrarily detain my client. She faces unfair trial, torture and mistreatment if deported or extradited. So far no due process has been followed”

بدل فرحة استقبال مولود جديد... تواجه مريم عبد الباسط، ناشطة مصرية وأم لثلاثة أطفال، خطر الترحيل القسري بعد أيام فقط من الولادة.
🛑 اقتصر نشاط مريم على التعبير السلمي عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، من خلال التعليق والمشاركة وإدارة صفحات رقمية معارضة، دعت إلى التغيير السياسي بوسائل سلمية، بما في ذلك دعم استفتاء إلكتروني طالب بعزل الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي.
🛑 ورغم الطابع السلمي لهذا النشاط، تعرّضت هذه الصفحات للحجب والإغلاق المتكرر، مع ملاحقة المرتبطين بها وإدراج بعضهم في قضايا غيابية وعلى قوائم الإرهاب، في إطار ممارسات القمع العابر للحدود.
🛑 كما تعرّضت مريم لتهديدات منظمة عبر مجموعة مغلقة على تطبيق تيليجرام، تضمنت نشر بيانات وصور شخصية لمعارضين في الخارج، إلى جانب تهديدات مباشرة ومحتوى تشهيري، في نمط واضح من الاستهداف والتتبع المنهجي، بما يزيد من المخاوف على سلامتها وسلامة أسرتها.
🛑 وكانت مريم، عبر محاميها المختص بالقانون الدولي بن كيث، قد تقدمت بشكوى إلى لجنة الرقابة على ملفات الإنتربول (CCF) بتاريخ 5 مايو 2026، في محاولة لوقف إساءة استخدام آليات الإنتربول في هذه القضية. ويؤكد محاميها أن احتجازها دون أساس قانوني، والاستناد إلى إدراج غير مُعلن على قوائم الإنتربول، يشكل انتهاكًا واضحًا للقانون الدولي ويضعها أمام خطر ترحيل تعسفي ووشيك.
🛑 تجدد مؤسسة دعم القانون والديمقراطية مطالبها للسلطات العُمانية بوقف أي إجراءات قد تؤدي إلى ترحيل مريم عبد الباسط وأطفالها، وضمان حمايتهم الكاملة، بما يتسق مع التزامات سلطنة عُمان الدولية في مجال حقوق الإنسان.

Her lawyer @BenCAKeith warns that her case is a clear instance of transnational repression. He states that holding her and her newborn over an oral INTERPOL request without written notification or judicial scrutiny, violates international law and puts her at immediate risk of forced return to Egypt, similar to her husband. Oman's human rights obligations must be upheld.

مؤسسة دعم القانون والديمقراطية تعبر عن قلقها البالغ إزاء احتجاز الناشطة المصرية المعارضة مريم محمد السيد عبد الباسط، المقيمة قانونيا في سلطنة عُمان منذ عام 2021، عقب وضع مولودها داخل مستشفى المدينة الطبية للأجهزة العسكرية في 25 مايو الجاري، مؤكدة أنها سُجلت بصفة "سجينة" وجرى تقييد حريتها داخل المنشأة الطبية دون إعلان أساس قانوني لذلك.
