This is your (unpopular but very true) reminder that...
One of the single biggest factors in your success is your boss, your leader... Not you. You may think you are (and might be) a great, skilled, and once-in-a-generation gift to your industry, but that only happens because of those who mentor, lead, open doors, and encourage you to become better. It's only because of those who challenge you and believe in your ability to be the person you've become... and will become.
All of my success is only because of both my past and present leadership. I praise God every day for being given the gift of incredible mentors throughout every step of my career: yesterday and today.
So, as you advance in your career... While fancy titles, better compensation, and increasing responsibilities are all great, those are all short term wins... Longterm success lies in who you choose to be your leader. (P.s., pick a leader, not a boss, but that's a post for another time.)
Leaders build. Leaders know that their success is only due to your success. Leaders know that you are meant for more.
