Seattle made its film debut in “Tugboat Annie” back in 1933 – and Washington state has served as the backdrop for a wide array of film, TV, and streaming productions ever since. Last year alone, Seattle saw workers on set and on the job at 660 locations across the city. In a range of remarkable settings, you could say that casts and crews are truly sleepless bringing movies to life in Seattle. @SeattleEconomy | @wafilmworks | @seattlefm

New York City's the greatest place in the world to film; there's no doubt about it. The city's open for film and TV production, and our office is raising the bar to find new ways to attract filmmakers to come shoot their next project right here. Need more proof? Hear it straight from directors, writers, and actors Spike Lee, Amy Schumer, Natasha Lyonne @nlyonne, @darrenaronofsky, Celine Song and @johnkrasinski, who took part in MOME's "Make it in NY" campaign, where they talk about how incomparable it is to film throughout the five boroughs. Watch the full video at nyc.gov/MakeitinNY, and check out a preview at @Tribeca Festival. Film/TV production is one of NYC's most important economic engines — creating good-paying union jobs, generating billions of dollars in local spending and driving business to all five boroughs. When the city's fighting to keep productions here, we're fighting for working people including the crew, caterers, and craftspeople whose livelihoods depend on this industry. In addition to attractive NY State film tax credits and expansive studios and soundstages throughout the boroughs, MOME's making the filming process in NYC more seamless, thanks to our new and improved film permitting application system in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management (CECM). We’re making NYC’s the most frictionless place to shoot in the world. Filmmakers, your next shoot’s right here in New York City, and you’re in great company. We’ll see you on set and on the streets of our great city soon!

A new ruling from the Paris Judicial Court sends a clear message: unauthorized password-selling schemes are not legitimate subscription-sharing services. The court found that Spliiit facilitated the unauthorized sharing of streaming service credentials, validating concerns raised by ACE members Apple, Disney, and Netflix. The decision reinforces an important distinction between personal password sharing platforms that profit from selling access to subscription accounts. Credential abuse doesn't just impact streaming platforms. It undermines the legal marketplace, exploits creative works, and creates risks for consumers who may be misled about the legality of these services. ACE remains focused on protecting consumers, supporting legitimate content services, and safeguarding the millions of jobs that depend on a thriving creative economy. Read more: bit.ly/3RBzoJj

Washington D.C. is our nation’s capital – and just like the rest of America, local film production translates into more jobs, bigger paychecks, and higher growth for the District’s workers, vendors, and businesses. When studios, casts, and crews set their scenes in D.C., their investments deliver $1.15 billion in wages and tens of thousands of jobs to residents and communities, all while tapping into locations and landmarks recognized the world over. There are few better ways to spur D.C.’s prosperity, and no better way to tell our country’s stories. Met with U.S. streaming firms who stressed @CRTCeng's Online Streaming tax will drive away investment and job creation in Canada’s creative sector. This unfair tax will drive up costs for Canadian consumers and targets U.S. companies. This law should be immediately repealed.
