I mean- “despite her discomfort, she had to accept she was a woman” seems pretty trans to me

I was educated entirely under section 28 so I know full well the deep lasting psychological trauma living under these kinds of laws does to queer/trans people. My dream is that one day there’ll be a queer generation that isn’t traumatised by the state.

GCers are saying they’ve won the war against trans people, but that’s also what they said about Section 28. They both happened for the same reason - society was becoming more tolerant and that was unacceptable to the powers that be, so they had to quash it with the law.

And, like with section 28, I believe it’s gonna be a long and difficult struggle, but one we will overcome✊

So because the EA includes social transition in its definition of gender reassignment, this means that a butch lesbian could be legally removed from women’s women’s spaces if she’s perceived as having socially transitioned and her presence there makes people uncomfortable…
This bit is the bit that says you can now ban ANY woman (or trans man) with a "masculine appearance". from a woman's hospital ward, toilet, rape crisis centre. Lawfully. Welcome to Gilead. Don't look too masculine.

She’s now confusing the equalities act with building regulations. Let’s not forget what the qualities act and its guidance ACTUALLY says 13.57 If a service provider provides single- or separate sex services for women and men, or provides services differently to women and men, they should treat transsexual people according to the gender role in which they present. However, the Act does permit the service provider to provide a different service or exclude a person from the service who is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or who has undergone gender reassignment. This will only be lawful where the exclusion is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.” “13.60 Any exception to the prohibition of discrimination must be applied as restrictively as possible and the denial of a service to a transsexual person should only occur in exceptional circumstances.”

Still very funny to me that she made a school house for brave people and gave one of them a special reward for bravely standing up to his friends when he thought they were wrong and then spent five years absolutley furious that the main actors in that school house stood up to her

If the GCers were right that it’s internalised homophobia that makes kids trans then the generation with the most trans kids would have been us elder millennials who were educated entirely under section 28

Like back in my day teachers couldn’t even step in to stop homophobic bullying and “gay” was the most common playground insult, but sure it’s the kids who have pride days at school who are most at risk of being convinced they should do whatever they can to not be gay

(Stepping in before the critics: yes I know section 28 said nothing about bullying being fine, but it was so vaguely written that teachers/schools were terrified to do anything that could in any way be perceived as “promoting homosexuality” that that’s what happened)

I know there are many trans and non-binary people who will be feeling deeply worried today, caught in the midst of a media storm as they try to simply live their lives. To those people, I say: please know that I stand with you - today, tomorrow and always. @TheGreenParty continues to support a policy of self-ID to allow trans people to live full lives free from harassment in the gender they know themselves to be. The judge emphasised in his speech that trans people are still protected under the law, but it is for government to now demonstrate how this will be achieved. I will work closely with human rights and LGBTIQA groups to understand the consequences of this ruling, and will not hesitate to press for changes in legislation if it is needed to protect the human rights of all.

A lot of news outlets are saying the UK courts have ruled that trans women are not women. This is a lie. The ruling applies to the Equality Act ONLY, trans people are still protected and the GRA still allows trans people to update their birth certificate.

A GRC allows someone to have another birth certificate issued that they can use if they need to show it. They were brought in under a ruling from the EU under the right to a private life, so we aren't forced to out ourselves as trans if we need to show it.

Of course the GC industrial complex has spent the last decade spreading misinformation to muddy the waters about the legal position of trans people in the UK so they can claim a victory that hasn't happened turn society against us
