I mean- “despite her discomfort, she had to accept she was a woman” seems pretty trans to me

I was educated entirely under section 28 so I know full well the deep lasting psychological trauma living under these kinds of laws does to queer/trans people. My dream is that one day there’ll be a queer generation that isn’t traumatised by the state.

So because the EA includes social transition in its definition of gender reassignment, this means that a butch lesbian could be legally removed from women’s women’s spaces if she’s perceived as having socially transitioned and her presence there makes people uncomfortable…

Still very funny to me that she made a school house for brave people and gave one of them a special reward for bravely standing up to his friends when he thought they were wrong and then spent five years absolutley furious that the main actors in that school house stood up to her

I know there are many trans and non-binary people who will be feeling deeply worried today, caught in the midst of a media storm as they try to simply live their lives. To those people, I say: please know that I stand with you - today, tomorrow and always. @TheGreenParty continues to support a policy of self-ID to allow trans people to live full lives free from harassment in the gender they know themselves to be. The judge emphasised in his speech that trans people are still protected under the law, but it is for government to now demonstrate how this will be achieved. I will work closely with human rights and LGBTIQA groups to understand the consequences of this ruling, and will not hesitate to press for changes in legislation if it is needed to protect the human rights of all.
