Honored to be presenting with Emily Reed and Nicole Beauchamp about #thinkingclassroom at #ATOMIC2023. It was great to reflect and share tweaks we've made: Class Dojo for groups, contract boards, circular circulation, group vs individual rubrics, thin-slicing vs single rich tasks
Great to be presenting with @carla_bidwell about Embedded Coaching Cycles. Some great questions about how an embedded/intensive cycle is different from a traditional coaching cycle, and how to avoid some of the pitfalls we've discovered. #ATOMIC2023
Wrong answers are real, but not all wrong answers are mistakes. The only person who knows if it's a mistake is the person who made it. - Great point from @ddmeyer#atmne2022
Yesterday, I had the privilege of working with 10 of the best teachers from @EastHartfordPS. We worked through thinking tasks and discussed how to use the book from @pgliljedahl to build a #thinkingclassroom. Everyone asked great questions, was open to new ideas. A fantastic day!
Last spring, the Algebra I team at @Ehhs826High took a leap of faith and went all in with #thinkingclassroom by @pgliljedahl. Together they worked through challenges, and had success. They invited others into their rooms and sparked an interest in the rest of the math department.
2.5 yo: I'm making triangles
Me: Did you know you can add more sides? I made a rectangle. It has one more side.
[2 minutes later]
2.5 yo: more sides... a circle!
Me: How many sides does it have?
2.5 yo: All of them!
