Sad that the @nhl and @NHLBlackhawks allow the Russian govt's openly anti-#LGBTQ laws to curtail their freedom. While it may have been defensible to make an organizational decision to have 🇷🇺 players not wear pride jerseys for the warmup, its not defensible to cancel altogether.

We might only have 80 students across 4 classes in K-5 @EHNews but we don't mess around when it comes to our end-of-term musical every December. Show goes on tomorrow and the kids as ready to shine! (in a piratical kind of way 😅) @WestVanSchools

The independent review of B.C.'s COVID response that was commissioned by the government has just been released: gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/public-… It finds the most transparent jurisdiction in North America was, in fact, not transparent and eroded people's trust.

Regardless of what conclusions one draws, stories like this are getting more common. It has implications for teaching and learning everywhere. I'd love to hear some of your thoughts - @MediatedReality @technolandy @grapemanca & anyone else who wants to chime in. #bced
I mentor a young lad with poor literacy skills who is starting a landscaping business. He struggles to communicate with clients in a professional manner. I created a GPT3-powered Gmail account to which he sends a message. It responds with the text to send to the client.

Had a TOC @EHNews in for my prep. Lesson plan: French. At lunch, I learned she speaks 🇺🇦. So, to reinforce #bced curriculum Big Ideas, instead of my plan, I asked if she'd teach pretending to only speak 🇺🇦. Kids worked hard & had fun bridging a new language gap 😀 #WestVanEd

Very concerning numbers in 🇨🇦 #HigherEd. Lots of challenges in interpretation, but important to pay attention and respond as this appears to speak to a fundamentally different capacity to thrive among university-going youth. #bced
Some pretty stunning numbers from a triennial survey of student health and well-being. The kids aren't alright. higheredstrategy.com/student…

As a teacher, I empathize a lot with this thread. It should be pretty obvious that an MD in the @CFPC_e's work doesn't end when the last patient leaves the clinic. Kinda like those who think teachers work 9-3.
I woke up this morning and almost spit out my coffee... I was shocked that Nadia Surani, @ONThealth official had the audacity to put these thoughts in a formal request...and was actually serious.. My wife and my dad are both primary care docs. A 🧵 cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/o… 1/

Oh Canada... this has become a legit problem. What do you think is driving it?
Replying to @CFWIJ
Canada is the country where most female journalists were exposed to organized troll campaigns this year. Turkey & USA followed Canada. Let's get this clear. #Womenjournos shouldn't be harassed because of their gender. Gender is never a reason for online violence. 🧵

An effective analogy for masking at school. And yes I do think we could be encouraged to wear masks more. I still have students who come to school with sniffles & coughs who are not wearing masks… campaigns and awareness could be a lot better….

Deeply concerning events @SFU this week. I really hope the students affected get the support they need. #highered folks should watch this case closely & think about how universities can respond so there's a better plan to support BIPOC students.
