Great start to the 2023-2024 season! Lots of new faces! A fantastic presentation by our officers, who also provided snacks! Even Dr. Tiemann, Mr. Smith-MW Activities Director and Mr. Hawkins stopped by to say HI and Good Luck! @getiemann@LanceSmith34@MWHSactivities
Jogging our brains after spring break with Hexagonal Thinking! This is a staple activity in my room - created this game sheet for students to more actively engage. Works for vocab, review, communication, note taking! #EDUProtocols#GoogleSlides#sschat@teacher2teacher
What a great resource to implement for small group discussions! I'm always looking for ways to deepen student discussions and keep the dialogue flowing through THEM #552Bobcat
Have something to say – but don't know how?
To support student talk, educator Dustin Oldenburg offers these simple scripts:

This is such a simple and helpful infographic! Teaching Google Classroom expectations is something I do early in the school year and revisit throughout. My students would definitely benefit from this! #552Bobcat
I love these discussion sentence stems! All students should practice using their voice in the classroom and flexing their questioning skills. Sentence stems are a great way to get them started #552Bobcat
Have you included debates in your instructional routines? Check out how T @MrDaubitz encourages Ss to stay cognizant of the claims they're making:

I like to incorporate Wellness Wednesdays during the winter months. Students fill out a Google Form checking in with how they are doing and if they want me to touch base with them. This helps me keep a pulse check on my kiddos during a busy and hard time of the year #552Bobcat
Snowpocalypse is striking again!! We are expected to get 2 feet of snow between today and tomorrow. What do you do in the classroom to help fight the winter blues away? #552Bobcat
ALT Screenshot of a Google Slideshow titled "Revisiting our Classroom Norms." In three sections, the following questions are asked: "For the most part, what's a norm that this community adheres to well? How do you know?" "What's a classroom norm that this community needs to revisit? Why is it important?" "are there other norms that you might suggest to help this classroom community be its very best?"

A5) Educational opportunities/settings are going to become more technology based. Being digitally literate is now a part of being a responsible citizen, so technology must become a part of students' educational experience if they are to be functional citizens #552Bobcat
A4) I will use the "Question" feature on Google Classroom either as a bell ringer or exit ticket. This feature allows me to check in with students and see what they recall from a lesson. Then, I can gauge what to review or who to check in with! #552Bobcat
This would work SO WELL to help students structure an endnote when peer reviewing essays! I'll have to give this a shot in my freshmen English class #552Bobcat

A3) I love following @edutopia because they give realistic advice on how to better your practices as well as ideas that can be easily integrated into the classroom. They post about a variety of strategies that I've added to my tool belt! #552Bobcat
"This learning progression because it helps the students to assess where they are in three areas: academics, problem-solving capabilities, and social-emotional development."

A2) Gimkit is a technology tool that I use for grammar and vocabulary practice in my classroom! It allows me to create practice sets and collect data while letting students practice independently or in small groups with 100% engagement. #552Bobcat
