Nothing irritates me more than a man acting like my safety precautions are “extra.” Imagine being so privileged in a world built for you that you're blind to the dangers women face daily. Women are constantly told to trust men, yet some of the greatest threats to our safety come from the very men we're expected to trust. Even statistically, a woman is often at greater risk in a relationship than she is being single. My standards aren't “extra.” They're a response to reality.
