My sweet friend, Erin George, sharing her experience with vitiligo for all of the students at her school. #inspiration
Sharing who we are is a powerful teaching tool. Ms. George-Hughes shared her experience of #vitiligo - a disorder that causes loss of skin color in patches. What an impactful presentation from an amazing teacher sharing her lived experience! @lynda_watters @tdsb @TDSB_MHWB

So sad to hear of John Kearns death. We put together orders for elementary math teams @TDSB schools for years. He always found what I needed- even matched my dollar store prices for dice and playing cards. I was looking forward to saying hi at the #Spectrum booth at OAME.

Can confirm! 🥰
No one feels more like the most famous rockstar on the planet than an elementary school teacher spotted out in public by a student.

Well this is awkward…a supposedly woke-indoctrinating Ontario educator has actually been working w/ >150 teachers & administrators for months on supporting early years students’ attainment of foundational math skills using research that’s been promoted by this government 😬

As I argue in @nationalpost, Ontario educators have become obsessed with woke indoctrination and don't seem to care that kids are falling behind in reading, writing and arithmetic. nationalpost.com/opinion/edu…

As promised… we worked through this today. Q: Why did this diner want to speak to the owner? S’s: Maybe they wanted to give a tip for the extra pizza? Then they solved it and although they understood the problem they still felt bad for the waiter having to do math @ work! 😂
I am absolutely saving this for a math problem next year!

This is so important for ALL math teachers to understand. @TDSBmath @TDSB_AnnettePS

Timed tests don’t measure what students know. They assess how students perform under stress. Data: tests under time pressure underestimate the abilities of girls—especially in math, where test anxiety is high. If students can't finish a test, make it shorter or give more time.

Students deserve direct, front-line mental health supports NOW. Educators are doing our best to support the needs of all students, but we are simply not therapists, social workers, or psychologists. #OntEd

More than 1,000 principals across Ontario say they're seeing more behavioural issues, lack of self-regulation, and unaddressed mental health challenges with no access to social workers and psychologists, a survey finds. cbc.ca/news/canada/london/te…

Thank you @OntHumanRights for this statement. The power that is used to undermine us as we address ALL forms of oppression is hateful. Transformative change can only happen when we address how racism plays out through power.
The OHRC is concerned about the increasing violence targeted at education officials for doing human rights work, adhering to their obligations set under the Ontario Human Rights Code and implementing government policy. bit.ly/3xu6Zr4
