Older Black woman education professionals DESPERATELY need to check their internalized misogynoir when dealing with young black millennial and Gen-Z teachers. It’s like they eat their young to impress our white coworkers. yayyy??

Definitely beats waiting until the last week before spring break to deliver the harshest criticism a teacher (me) has ever heard.
Admin, If a formal observation is the first time you are in a teachers classroom, then put the evaluation form away. Just sit, listen, and leave a note of thanks, praise or encouragement. Relationships first!

The last thing I am doing in class is confiscating a frustrated student’s phone Admin can do it or the child can keep it. I am not getting involved with a $1000 device & a kid who is angry at me about it

Dear Black girl in a doctorate program reading and citing articles for research, It gets better sis! At the start, I remember when any one article would take me 30-45min to get through the methods alone. This evening over 3hrs, I've annotated over 12 articles. It gets better.

Continuously wondering why the response to students who are struggling with emotional regulation and basic academics is to send them to trade school before they even have 10 credits. It is upsetting. A sneaky way to give up on students and sent them away.

One of the ugliest facts of the US is many Americans believe poor children should (can) perform academically the same as affluent children *as if the poverty/affluence don’t matter*

I really love co-teaching and I pray it becomes a much richer discipline over time. There’s nothing like sharing responsibility and modeling community and care. #EOYReflection

Here’s what I want for teacher appreciation week. An end to standardized tests and the $1.7 billion spent each year on these tests redirected into classrooms.

I wish more teachers would realize that WE are the asset! Teachers bring value to our schools. Teachers keep our world moving. Please, never let a school, an administrator, a parent, or anyone else make you feel otherwise.

Just how much learning is lost when schools go through three weeks of state testing? I don't want to know what the answer is.

Constructivism/Discovery Learning is giving a man a rod/worm and saying, "if you use this right, you will have food. Go figure it out and have fun!" The man is starving, and we are watching him struggle when we can just teach him and then he can develop his own best practice
