We held a productive Reflect & Learn meeting on May 29, 2026, for members implementing our 2-Generation Model to the ECCD project. This initiative empowers vulnerable children and families through quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), enhanced livelihoods, and a strengthened Coalition Secretariat. Key Achievements Shared: Economic Empowerment: Trained 327 individuals, including refugees, in entrepreneurship. Child Protection: Equipped 70 para-social workers with the Nurturing Care Framework, Health & Nutrition: Rolled out a nutritional supplementary program targeting over 300 children, including urban refugees. Mr. Jimmy Odyek (Executive Director, ACODEV) emphasized the power of collaboration, stating: "The coalition approach must be guided by prudence and patience towards one another. Let each one be his brother’s keeper. We must strictly uphold humanitarian standards and fully comply with the Sovereignty Act 2026 to protect our work and partnership with the government." He reminded partners that the coalition remains stronger together through unity, accountability, and compliance while appreciating all the 11 member organizations! 90% of a child’s brain develops before age five. Nutrition isn't just about food; it’s the biological fuel that determines if a child will thrive and reach their full potential. On May 7th, Mukisa Foundation @MukisaFound - part of the LCA Uganda coalition—distributed Nutrition Supplementary Packages (NSP) to 159 vulnerable refugee children in Mengo Kisenyi and Rubaga Road. Our medical team shared a sobering reminder: "Malnutrition is a leading cause of disability in children." This is why our work goes beyond distribution—we are empowering caregivers and Para Social Workers with vital sessions on hygiene, breastfeeding, and immunization to protect these critical early years. Closing Remarks from the Vice Chairperson The Vice Chairperson of LCA Uganda, Barbara Atukunda from Wezesha Impact, extended her gratitude to the Secretariat for selecting such exceptional consultants for this project. She noted that the sessions successfully unearthed deep insights and prompted critical reflection on complex safeguarding scenarios. Highlighting a significant gap between current safeguarding practices and existing organizational policies, Barbara emphasized that the training's strength lies in its multi-layered approach.
