While many research studied overspecification, a type of property selection decision of reference production, not much is known about property ordering, especially when syntactic variations are involved, which is exactly what my PhD thesis is about: dx.doi.org/10.22028/D291-463…

The experimental methods of my PhD project are mentioned by @LabVanced. We created a *maze-based sentence completion task* to record referential expressions online. Check this out: labvanced.com/content/resear…

In many cases, it is not about conflicts in opinions, right or wrong, better or worse, but about who is in the higher position to be the right and better one, and who has the power to decide that. When it is decided by power but not the content itself, bullying occurs already.

dear academics (mostly humanities): you can heal from whatever traumas drove you into academia in the first place by releasing “academic” as an identity and letting it just be a job. and whatever we thought it was is pretty much gone anyways.

Hi there! If you're struggling to get started on something, you're probably not procrastinating on it because you're lazy. Lazy is just people being judgmental about you being tired. Instead, rest. Figure out why you're actually avoiding it. Then deal with the issues.

Very pleased to see this article in print! In a study with 2000 subjects, we track how people read syntactically complex sentences, and find that word predictability estimated from language models does a poor job of explaining the human data. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
