I’ve had a front-row seat to one
@baseballhall candidate my whole life — my dad, @dalemurphh3.
People talk about the “character clause” keeping guys out. For him, it’s the opposite — his character is a reason we often say to put him in. I see it on display constantly: camping with his grandkids, hyping up crowds with my daughter in the DR, planning surprise picnics for his granddaughters, and he and my mom pouring their lives into helping my brother with special needs live a full, joyful life. It’s not just the big things you see in public. He does the little things too.
But make no mistake. On the field, he was one of the most dominant players of the ’80s. And baseball fans everywhere remember it. I hope we can remember the dominant ones of the 80s this weekend.
