📢ANNOUNCEMENT: Kids are joining the fight against misinformation!
Today, we are excited to unveil our latest knowledge product, Fact-Check Champs, an interactive flashcard game tailored to help children across
#Africa understand and combat misinformation and disinformation.
Over the past two years, FactCheckAfrica has made remarkable strides in the fight against information pollution, leveraging cutting-edge tools, partnerships, and grassroots outreach to make an impact. Our journey took a major leap forward with the launch of Africa’s first inclusive AI-powered chatbot, which stands out not only for its technological sophistication but also for its localization—it is translated into six local languages, making it accessible to diverse audiences.
Recognizing the importance of education in this fight, we developed a curriculum on AI in Journalism, introducing this cutting-edge subject to tertiary institutions across Nigeria and fostering a culture of fact-checking among young academics.
Beyond academia, we took our advocacy to the grassroots, visiting underserved communities, including IDP camps, markets, churches, mosques, and campuses across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. These localized engagements introduced concepts like AI, digital rights, and fact-checking literacy to marginalized populations, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against misinformation.
In 2024, we proudly launched Africa’s first AI Journalism Fellowship, a groundbreaking initiative that trained 41 fellows, including journalists, academics, and technologists from 30 newsrooms and institutions across six African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
Our commitment to education saw another milestone through our Train-the-Trainer workshop, organized in partnership with
@Stanford. This initiative focused on equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to introduce fact-checking principles to their classrooms, creating a ripple effect that will impact countless students. In the same year, we launched three knowledge products to deepen understanding and combat misinformation across different regions, including Network of Issues and Opportunities in East Africa’s Misinformation Landscape (produced in collaboration with
@Meta &
@iEARNKE).
Now, it's time to bring our young champs on board! With tools like Fact-Check Champs, we’re now enabling kids to learn vital skills in a fun, engaging, and impactful way.
These fun and educational cards teach:
~Fact-checking terms
~How to spot fake content

Our efforts are rooted in expert validation by educational specialists and clinical psychologists to ensure optimal impact for young minds. Special thanks to
