Such sad news. I remember reading Steve Waid's work as a kid growing up watching the sport, and most recently had the pleasure of seeing his stories he wrote for @Frontstretch. He was a wealth of knowledge and will be greatly missed.
It is finished.
@stevewaid, one of the most most accomplished print journalists to ever step foot in a NASCAR media, died this afternoon after a long fight with the after effects of cancer.
He was 77.

I’ve decided to answer the question, ‘Why are you racing on Sunday night?’ with ‘Why does the NFL play football on Monday Night?’ Because it’s special. As a side note- my Seattle Seahawks have 5 of their 9 home games this season in a timeslot other than Sunday afternoon. (And we are stoked!) do new things and let’s see what happens @IndyCarOnFOX

I talked to about 95 percent of the Truck Series field pre-race.
LOTS of tight-handling trucks and they think it will be worse in traffic.
Some plan to race like Daytona and hang in the back, others will race like there is no tomorrow.
Most of the field expects chaos

Having trouble sleeping & finally gave in and turned on a sleep playlist. It's after 3 am so whatever works at this point. Not even 10 minutes after I turned it on I hear my fat cat start snoring away. Meanwhile I'm still wide awake. At least the playlist helped someone sleep.
