Catalog NES Game 36- Metal Gear
All great franchises have to start somewhere and like many Metal Gear solid started out in 1987 on NES inn Japan and 1988 in NA.
Metal Gear is a two-dimensional stealth game, played from a flip-screen overhead perspective. The player controls a military operative codenamed Solid Snake.
The NES version of this game was a major success. selling over 1 million units in the US and it was the second highest selling game in Oct 1988 only losing out to Super Mario Bros 2 and remained in the top 10 in sale for a nice chunk of early 1989.
The game had favorable reviews with 79% approval rating. It also ranks as the 104th best NES game of all time according to the now defunct Nintendo Power,
Its success helped jump start a franchise that is still going strong today.
