Thank you to the @NFLFoundation for their support via their Youth Football Camp Grant. This allows us to continue to offer the Des Moines TnT Football camp for FREE. Through three years of hosting this camp in Des Moines we’ve had over 1,200 kids register. Around 25% of those kids noted “No Experience” during registration. Between 55-60% of families noted their child participates in the Free & Reduced Lunch program. That all goes to say that without this camp these kids may not be able to experience learning the game of football. As many of them can’t pay the $100-$200 that other camps charge. We also recognize campers with awards for being the Best Teammate, having the Best Attitude and being the Hardest Worker. Although not everyone gets a trophy we hope that all campers can take away the lessons beyond the X’s and O’s taught at today’s camp. Thank you to the coaches at North High School in Des Moines and the Central Iowa Chiefs for volunteering their time to impact the kids.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we teamed up with @EVERFI to host an event with the NYPD Far Rockaway, Harlem, and Bronx Giants! Darius Slayton, Dante Miller and Darius Alexander participated in a panel discussion, along with a hands-on activity with the boys and NYPD officers to discuss the importance of mental wellness and character building. Thanks to @NFLFoundation students in our area have free access to @EVERFI’s Character Playbook and Mental Wellness Basics curriculum!

This week, the @NFLFoundation hosted an afternoon of activities supporting physical and emotional health for middle school students at the Duquesne City School District in Pittsburgh. Students learned about nutrition and movement, the district received a grant via @GENYOUthNow, and the NFL FLAG-In-School PLAY 60 Champions program officially kicked off with a skills and drills clinic. 👏🏿 @GENYOUthNow | @Act4HlthyKids | @DukeCitySD

Yesterday, the @NFL hosted the Play Football Prospect Clinic, where top draft prospects engaged with local Special Olympics athletes and youth football players at Hazelwood Green Park Field in Pittsburgh. The new field was supported in part by the @NFLFoundation and @steelers and is designed to expand access to recreation, youth sports, and community space across the Pittsburgh region.
