On this Indigenous Veterans Day, remember LCpl John Shiwak; known as the "Sniper of Rigolet", he fought with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment during WW1. Killed in action during the Battle of Cambrai 21 Nov 2017, his final resting place is unknown. Lest We Forget.

Our office is closed today to observe the second national day of truth and reconciliation. We do so with respect for indigenous peoples across our nation who, through no fault of their own, were heinously treated by settler populations.

Great work. Pvte. Lambert was just 17 years old when he died fighting for the Dominion of Newfoundland.
St. John's native, Pvte. John Lambert, a WW1 soldier of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He died on August 16, 1917 at the age of 17. His remains were discovered in April 2016 near Langemark, Belgium. To honour his memory, I restored and coloured his photo.
Thanks so much to the Alberta office for hosting us. Lots of good things happening in Ombuds offices across Canada, with best practices being shared to further improve our services to citizens. Best of luck in retirement Marianne!

Happy International Women’s Day to all. Our Office is staffed by seven whip-smart women who serve as Deputy Citizens’ Rep, Senior Investigator, Investigators x 2, Intake Officer, EA, and Office Manager. We are lucky to have them.

Earlier this week I wrote to Commissioner Denisova in Ukraine to extend our support, offer any assistance we can provide her office, and commending her on staying open for the people she serves.

Thanks @Pam_Frampton. It was fun to read the old Hansard again.
Love this piece by the N.L. citizens' rep. I didn’t realize the position had been around as long. Crosbie makes a cameo appearance, as well. BRADLEY J. MOSS: Got a public complaint or a whistle to blow? | SaltWire saltwire.com/newfoundland-la…
