Did you know? The Principles for the Protection and Promotion of the Institution of the Ombudsman, were created in 2019 by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. Among those consulted by the Commission was the IOI, in which we hold membership.

On this Indigenous Veterans Day, remember LCpl John Shiwak; known as the "Sniper of Rigolet", he fought with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment during WW1. Killed in action during the Battle of Cambrai 21 Nov 2017, his final resting place is unknown. Lest We Forget.

Great work. Pvte. Lambert was just 17 years old when he died fighting for the Dominion of Newfoundland.
St. John's native, Pvte. John Lambert, a WW1 soldier of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He died on August 16, 1917 at the age of 17. His remains were discovered in April 2016 near Langemark, Belgium. To honour his memory, I restored and coloured his photo.
