It’s such a non story.
The job they had on offer seems so replaceable that it’s untrue. Also if jobs are harder to get and they stick at 30 headcount then likely less people left than in a standard year.
If you’ve not done the basic “ai” training, then learn to fix ai mistakes
This story in today’s Sunday Times shows how dire the situation for graduates is now. We have done everything right - everything asked of us. Blair’s obsession with 50% of the population going to university was insane, but that’s not the fault of once 18-year-olds who had at least a decade of being told our only route to success was a degree.
Now facing huge debt (and a prospective effective marginal tax rate of 37%), we can’t find jobs. For every 1 of us that does, 27 young migrants are employed (and this isn’t unique to grads - if you’re wondering why there are no Saturday jobs for your kids while doing their A-levels, look no further than that 27:1 figure).
And for the rare few who somehow manage to get an offer for a place on a gold dust graduate scheme (grad schemes and the size of their cohorts have shrunk) - there’s a chance the offer gets rescinded just as in this case (by email no less), with AI to blame.
You’re literally replaced by AI before you’ve even started the job.
So, young Britons - both grads and non-grads - basically have two choices: 1) be replaced by an immigrant, or 2) be replaced by a robot. It all feels so hopeless for many Zoomers in Britain right now.
