Not fishy at all to get a behested payment of $5M from a foreign government for the mayor's pet programs.
If one of you reporters feel like digging, Karen Bass sought $5M to the “mayor’s fund” from the Qatari govt. supposedly to “fight homelessness.” The govt agreed to pay it (even posted about it on an IG account) before taking it down. What did the Qatari govt expect in return?

On Wed, LA City Council will decide whether it should be able to make policy for LA’s largest dept (& budget item): LAPD. Many voters assumed this was the case — nope! Currently, Council only makes RECS to a Board. 😮 Send an email to fix this omission: tinyurl.com/crpolice

Stanford graduates chant "Free Palestine" waving Palestinian flags as they walk out on Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai as he beings his commencement speech. Absolutely epic.
Stanford grads walk out as Google CEO Sundar Pichai takes the stage as commencement speaker. No mention of AI, unlike other uni speakers getting booed down this year. Story for @sfgate shortly

When a politician says they need "further study" or "it's complicated," what they mean is: "Doing the right thing requires a personal risk or sacrifice that I'm not willing to make so I'm going to do nothing and pretend the issue's beyond everyone's ability to comprehend."
🚨TOMORROW City Council may block some Charter reforms that WERE possibly headed for your Nov. ballot: - Council expansion - Ranked choice voting - More LAPD oversight 📣Make your voice heard Fri 1pm at City Hall! ✍️Submit written comment: lacouncilcomment.com CF 26-0489

When the 10 freeway collapsed, the City was able to do this in what, 1 day? All it takes is some political leadership.
Faster light rail and BRT is coming to LA! Thank you @CW_HeatherHutt.

After we endured an incredibly toxic mayoral race that could’ve been prevented with Ranked Choice Voting, are we really about to let LA City Council pass on implementing RCV?
The Charter Reform process shows that City Hall has nothing but contempt for LA voters. No ranked choice voting No council expansion but hey, at least the CAO gets to be named the CFO!! WHO IS THIS FOR??

For many years, I took barbs for refusing to call Israel's policy in East Jerusalem "ethnic cleansing". After all, there were 60,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem in 1967, and 400,000 today. Occupation sucked, and included war crimes, but it wasn't ethnic cleansing. That has changed now. There are 3 Palestinian neighborhoods, all of whose residents are being or are about to be displaced: Batan al-Hawa and al-Bustan in Silwan, and Um Haroun in Sheik Jarrah. The latter two are being razed, or will be razed in the near future. And immediately to the east, the Bedouin hamlet of Khan al-Akmar, adjacent to E-1, is about to be expelled, part of an attempt to "cleanse" Area C between East Jerusalem and the Jordan River valley of its Palestinian residents. Regrettably, I can think of no other term to use other than "ethnic cleansing".
Amnesty International has accused Israel’s government of carrying out a campaign of “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and annexing their territory. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.news/ja8wy2

What. A. Joke.
The Council President’s handling of charter reform has been just as much of a dumpster fire as the commission. The Chief Legislative Analyst has just dropped a new 100 page report in advance of Friday’s meeting. 🫠 cityclerk.lacity.org/lacityc…

What does Kenneth Mejia's slam-dunk reelection (63% ) mean for the City Attorney race, if anything?

Unacceptable! Send this one-click email to remind the Rules Committee that expanding LA’s City Council has been in conversation for YEARS. We don’t need more study — let voters decide!! ⬇️ tinyurl.com/SaveExpansion

Last time I checked, citizens are allowed to vote. This is only a scam if you don’t view the homeless as human beings.

We understand there's a candidate at our Administrative HQ in Norwalk talking about ballot processing. Meanwhile, we are here at the Ballot Processing Center where the votes are actually counted.

What if the election conspiracies in CA aren't because of how voting happens (which has been the same for decades) but because a gubernatorial candidate stole ballots to seed conspiracies and the system has yet to stop him.

People in LA now that we don't have deal with Pratt for 6 more months:

Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman has overtaken Spencer Pratt in the race for L.A.’s next mayor. After trailing the Republican and former reality star in a distant third, Raman leapfrogged Pratt for second place after the latest round of ballots was counted on Sunday afternoon. variety.com/2026/politics/ne…

Nithya Raman took 40% of the votes in today's drop & has overtaken Spencer Pratt for the second spot. She's now up close to half a point. Bass: 15,691 (32.81%) Raman: 19,096 (39.93%) Pratt: 8,489 (17.75%) Pretty safe to say Raman has unlocked a spot in the runoff.
Another very big jump for Nithya Raman in today's drop where she took 40% of the vote. She's now just a hair over 1 pt behind Spencer Pratt & on track to overtake him tomorrow assuming a similar size drop. Bass: 19,312 (32.98%) Pratt: 10,336 (17.65%) Raman: 23,514 (40.16%)

With Angelenos soundly rejecting Hydee Feldstein Soto's request for another term as @CitiAttorneyLa, here's a thread with all the signs we saw even BEFORE she was elected to her first (and only) term. It was pretty clear her reign was going to be a shitshow.
