Heath is no exception. He was the original sponsor for the university’s original NAACP chapter, the Caribbean African Student Association and was “wrestled” into becoming the director of African and African American studies. “I say wrestled because I was looking at it and there was nobody to teach in it. And it was sort of assumed that I would take over that directorship,” said Heath.
