Sadly, one of the abducted schoolchildren kidnapped in Oyo State, Ahoro Esinele, has reportedly passed away.
Some days ago, her pictures were circulated, showing that she was already seriously ill in captivity. Last night, the kidnappers reportedly displayed her during a TikTok live stream and announced that she had died. They told her mother that they no longer had her child with them.
They may not have pulled the trigger or wielded the knife, but captivity killed her. The injuries, the beatings, the hunger, the rain, the cold nights, the fear, and the inhuman conditions she endured were simply too much for her fragile body to bear.
Her grieving mother has spoken through tears. In her words: βI knew it. She was not very strong. On the day they were abducted, she only managed to go to school. Unfortunately, she never returned home.β
What greater pain can a parent endure than watching a child leave for school and never come back alive?
Another innocent life has been lost. Another family has been shattered. Another dream has been buried in the forests where these children continue to suffer.
Rest in peace, dear sister. May God comfort your family, strengthen those you left behind, and grant your soul eternal rest.π
