A big area of our research has been devoted to applying #nontechnicalskills to #agriculture. One of our key papers in this area investigated the #situationawareness requirements, potential lapses, and factors leading to lapses with #tractor drivers.

Hello everyone! Welcome along to #FarmSafetyHour We're here every Thursday 19:30-20:30GMT to start the #conversation around #FarmSafety We all know #Farming can't continue on the path it is on so let's work together to #CultivateChange Thank you for being with us all over the 🌎
So why should #farmers be interested in #NonTechnicalSkills?
1. There are decades of research showing that these skills are vital in high risk industries, so much so that training in these skills is compulsory in some areas (e.g. aviation).
#FarmSafety#HumanFactors
3. Many farmers will already be using these skills, and likely think they are important (e.g. assessing risk, monitoring their environment, sharing information), but they might not be calling them 'non-technical skills'.
4. The aim of FLINTS is to help farmers recognise these skills, and provide a shared terminology to help skills be discussed, observed, and enhanced. Building this knowledge is free, & might just save a life, so the real question is, why wouldn't farmers be interested in NTS?
