I'm seeing Democrats attacking this Iran deal as a capitulation and give away to Iran. This plays into warmongering. The right critique is that this deal is worse for the US than the JCPOA was and the reason we have to accept it is because Donald Trump launched a pointless war.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of longtime President Yoweri Museveni, posted a photograph of prominent opposition lawyer Erias Lukwago blindfolded in detention, hours after armed men seized Lukwago from his home, his family said. Lukwago, a former Kampala Lord Mayor and acting president of the opposition People’s Front for Freedom, was abducted Monday morning, dragged from his Wakaliga residence by uniformed men who scaled his fence at dawn, according to his wife and witnesses. He is a lead lawyer for detained opposition figure Kizza Besigye, and had been set to deliver documents in a civil suit accusing the defense chief of using social media to threaten Besigye’s life. A judge had ordered Kainerugaba to file his response by June 18. Kainerugaba, who is widely seen as being groomed to succeed his 80-year-old father, has a documented record of boasting about torturing detainees. Last year he wrote on X that he had captured Bobi Wine’s bodyguard “like a grasshopper” and was using him as a “punching bag”; that detainee later appeared in court showing signs of torture. He has also publicly threatened to behead and hang opposition leaders. The Uganda Law Society called a nationwide lawyers’ strike for June 26, World Anti-Torture Day, demanding Lukwago’s release. Uganda is one of United States’s closest security partners in Africa, with its military receiving substantial U.S. counterterrorism assistance. Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, secured a seventh term in January’s disputed election, which the United Nations said was marked by “widespread repression” of the opposition. In August 2025, Uganda became one of a handful of countries to strike a deal with the administration of President Trump to accept migrants deported by the U.S. after being denied asylum, including people whom Washington could not return to their countries of origin. Trump is pointing out something correct here but he won’t do anything to stop it and it doesn’t cross the moral outrage line for him

The reaction of many is leopards ate my face, which I get. But there are a lot of Muslims that are socially conservative and many who are economically as well. A conservative party is a natural fit for those people. Too bad for them the only one thinks they are less than dirt.

I prefer Claire Valdez to Antonio Reynoso because of what she could represent for the American left, but I think it's silly that people are acting like they will be meaningfully different votes in congress. Their positions are practically identical on every policy issue.
